I enjoyed The Magician's Nephew not because it had an well done story (I think many people would find it boring as it was an old style of child's fairy tale), but because of the way it worked. The magic, the different worlds, the creation (I'll say no more, as I don't want to ruin it)... lets just say I found his ideas very interesting and ejoyable.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was also quite good, though it was deminished because I had already seen the movie. I think they did a good job of recreating it in the movie and that they even improved it. For that reason, it had a shade over it as I read. Still good if you haven't watche the movie yet.

Book three, The Horse and his Boy was even more different than the second than the second was compared to the first (and they were quite different). It had an Aladin style to it. I actually really liked it, and found it to be the best so far. It had very little to do directly with Narnia though. Bah, oh well, it was fun!

I move to the story of Prince Caspian . This one features our four protagonists from the second book. I also found this one to be very good. It also had its own tweaked differance of style than the second. I put it on par with the third book on my rank of favoritism.

Next, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was again completely a thing of its own. This one became my favorite thus far with its constantly changing many adventures (though a new caracter starts off as quite the annoyance) and amazing ideas. Good stuff!

Following this, The Silver Chair (needless to say, a thing of its own, completely different than the rest) was another complete sucess. I rank it just before the fifth book, as it was once more an amazing adventure that had many turns and twists. I'm actually feeling bad that the series is ending...

And finally, The Last Battle ended it all. I won't say I was disappointed with it and its end, I wasn't, but it... Let's just say the whole thing filled me with anger, rage, pride for the heroes, encouragement, hope, pain, sadness, awe, amazement, enjoyment, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera... in that order. I rank this one along side of the sixth book. A great story and a great series.

How can you still remember all that
I only remember the last book I read (which was a travellers guide ) and that's all...

Actually, all the dates and read times are stuff I noted down.
I'm wierd like that.

I note down on each day that I read in an agenda:
[color:"blue"] Title p.##-p.##
[color:"red"] #PagesReadThatDay [color:"green"] CurrentPercentageComplete [color:"blue"] #PagesLeft
[color:"blue"] #DaysToCompletionAccordingToAveragePagesPerDay [color:"green"] AveragePagesPerDay [color:"red"] #DaysToCompletionAccordingToAveragePagesReadThatDay

In that format.

Its actually quite fun (I'm a math nut. ) calculating all that stuff. I would actually suggest trying it out to the heavy readers out there.

So, I've just been revisiting my agenda for the stats.

BUT, all the comments and overviews are from memory. I usually remember how I've felt about a story for a long time.

So... Killerzzz is now that much odder in the eyes of his peers. Although I did mention this habit a while ago in the 'SomethingObsessiveDissorder'-mabob thread.

Stay tuned! I'll be back in a few minutes to give y'all another episode of Killerzzz's Captain's Reading Log !!!

Stop.
Took 13 days to complete teh 499 paged book.

I like The Shawshank Redemption . It was cleaver, and catchy. Good story, and not at all his usual kind. This one was completely non-supernatural! Very good , and definantly something that even non-KingFans would definantly enjoy. The main caracters are very likable and the story is great. The movie, a must see, is simply titled The Shawshank Redemption; starring Morgan Freeman, and the guy who played the other main caracter.

Apt Pupil was also quite good. It had caracters with sick demented minds, but that was the point and it was well done. Interesting stuff, and nasty extra details. A story about a couple of evil people. This one was also completely non-supernatural, as is the next one.

The next one, The Body , is a very good story about a few young friends who hear about a dead body out near the train tracks in the woods, and they set out the go see it. Its one of those stories about those kids that go on an adventure at the small town, but this one was a nice read and kept me in it allthe way.

The last was quite short; The Breathing Method . Well, compared to the others. It was also the only one that suggests a supernatural event. It was good though, and interesting. A bit'o gore at the end, but that's okay. It's Stphen King ladies and gents, it's not surprising to see some when it's there. Though, I must say the first and the third didn't have any gore. Interesting. Anyhoo, another goooo'.

Good...

Welcome back to Killerzzz's Captain's Reading Log episode seven!!!

"July 24th, 2006.

I have begun reading Bram Stoker's Dracula by Bram Stoker.
Stop.
It is said to be the best telling of Dracula out there.
Stop.
We shall see.
End."

"July 26th, 2006.

Have finished reading the book.
Stop.
Average read time of 111.6666666666666..... pages per day.
Stop.
Took 3 days to complete the 335 paged book.
Stop.
Next book to read: The Ambler Warning by Robert Ludlum.
End."

Well, this was indeed the best telling of the story of Dracula that I have ever seen. It isn't crap like all those movies out there. Its a story, a good one, where Dracula is a vampire (a normal vampire, but an ancient one), not the king of all vampires; and where Van Helsing is not the great vampireslayer, but an older man, a doctor, who just knows a lot of vampire lore and who rallies some braves together to fight the evil. Again, its not the overexaggerated crap of the films out there. This is a tale that is realistic in comparison, and yet even more interesting.

If you want to read a good vampire story, or the TRUE story of Dracula (if there ever was a true one, it was this; Stoker actually collected all the real documents that he could that hinted to the existance of the monster Dracula). This is a must read even if you're not that much of a vampire story fan because, once more, this isn't the crap of the movies (this seems to be my main motivation ).

I've read Stoker's Dracula--good book.

I'm in the process of reading through all of D. Adams Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy books--currently on the last one--Mostly Harmless.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Douglas Adams was murdered because he was too close to the truth?

With all the conspiracy theories rampant on the net, what makes the theory that a healthy 49 year old man who had a number of insightful and revolutionary things to say implausible. Mind you, I don't think anybody believes he was killed by Vogons.

Beowulf (Michael Alexander translation)... felt rather sorry for the dragon... it wouldn't have bothered anyone if that cup hadn't been stolen...

and coincidentally, previous book read was Dragon by Steven Brust (which actually wasn't about a dragon at all).

Woot, I'm back. Just wanted to say that I'm just gunna list all the books I read over my gone time in a simple resume rather than the Captain's log. There's just too much of it. Anyhoo, I'm going to be doing that tonight.

I'm currently starting to read Lisey's Story by Stephen King. It's different, and though I don't usually like life stories, this one has that spookiness, that feel of something unnatural behind the scenes that I just gotta keep reading to find out what it is...

Holy molies, I got alot to throw in. I'll keep it brief... or will I?

Alright, lets get it on:

1. The Ambler Warning by Robert Ludlum
First read day: July 27, 2006.
Last read day: August 8, 2006.
Read Time: 10 days of reading for a 489 paged book.
Read Speed: 48.9 pages per day.

This was a good book, to say the least. Its got its cool characters, cool style and cool story. Cool! If you like some of Ludlum's other stories (The Bourne Identity for example -- this is the first book by him I've read, I've only seen the Bourne movies), then this will not be a dissapointment. Conspiracy, fear, spies and dies. This is that kinda book and its a good'un.

2. The Seventh Tower by Garth Nix
First read day: August 8th, 2006.
Last read day: August 11th, 2006.
Read Time: 4 days of reading for a 649 paged book.
Read Speed: 162.25 pages per day.

This was an awsome fantasy novel. Actually, its a trilogy that I got in a one volume hardcover edition (Book 1: The Fall ;; Book 2: Castle ;; Book 3: Aenir). This is a fantasy style of its own, something different than any others I've seen or read or played. If you like any sort of epic and/or fantasy book, then get at this one. Its well worth the read; as you can see, I couldn't put it down. There's a second trilogy out there, but it isn't sold in a single volume and I'd have to find and order each book online. Quite a hassle so I'll have to wait for now. I don't pick bad books , read it.

3. Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King
First read day: August 12th, 2006.
Last read day: August 26th, 2006.
Read Time: 13 days of reading for a 816 paged book.
Read Speed: approx. 62.77 pages per day.

Baaaah! Did you see that? It took me 13 days! A sign?... Nah. Well, this was another awsome collection of King's short stories. I liked just about all of them, and I gotta say a few of 'em kept me up at night. Especially the one about "The Moving Finger" (say no more) because I was sleeping in a simple cabin at the time I was reading most of this book. Spooky. *Creek* Ahh! What was that?! I gotta say my two favs were "The End of the Whole Mess" and "Suffer the Little Children"; of course, those were two of the maddest. Says something about my state of mind, dunnit? Alrighty, King fans. Dig in!

4. Night by Elie Wiesel
First read day: August 29th, 2006.
Last read day: August 30th, 2006.
Read Time: 2 days of reading for a 135 paged book.
Read Speed: approx. 67.5 pages per day.

This was a pretty good book. I got it as a present, so I started it right away. Its the true story of the author about his experiance of being in a Nazi concentration camp. He and his father were separated from their family and put in the camp, and he tells of the terrable things he'd seen and gone through. Its very interesting and moving, especially if you haven't yet seen a movie or read a book that takes you into the same subject (I haven't, so this was a good experiance). Read it if you like, and if you're thinking "Iiii don't knoooww... Will I like it?", then I say to you "Its 135 pages long, the size of a Goosebumps book and not at all hard to read; its well worth the what-ifs." Thats what I'd been thinking, and I ended up being glad I chose to read it.

Euh... Four book reviews seems good for now, yes? I gotta wake up early tomorrow, and I haven't gotten much sleep in the last few days (50% my fault, 10% other people's faults, 5% bad luck, and another 35% my fault ).

Time to be sleepsing.
G'night.

Alright, only two more tonight.

I've a bunch to do, but I'll stretch it out.

1. Velocity by Dean Koontz
First read day: September 1st, 2006.
Last read day: September 5th, 2006.
Read Time: 4 days of reading for a 400 paged book.
Read Speed: 100 pages per day.

This is another great Dean Koontz book, but different than the other ones I've read because it doesn't include a supernatural influence/effect/tingymagiggie . Actually, as the cover of the book will tell you, its about 'someone' making a man choose between two choices in many horrible decisions. Its actually really cool and sinister. For example, here's whats on the cover:
If you don't take this note to the police and get them involved, I will kill a lovely blond schoolteacher somewhere in Napa County.
If you do take this note to the police, I will instead kill an elderly woman active in charity work.
You have six hours to decide. The choice is yours.
Just your friendly neighbourhood psycopath exchanging letters. A must read for those thriller fans.

2. Half-Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer
First read day: September 6th, 2006.
Last read day: September 7th, 2006.
Read Time: 2 days of reading for a 290 paged book.
Read Speed: 145 pages per day.

I really like this author, but this was not my favorite of his works. BUT it IS still good. The thing is, I'm used to his vurry interesting science-fiction/fantasy work (which is all awsome). Also, this book felt like it was for a younger audience. NEVERTHELESS I enjoyed it greatly; do not let the idea of its target audience deviate you from reading it; its still some fun. Its basically about a kid who's the unofficial 'detective' of his school because he can always solve the mysteries going on... (deep scary announcer voice) But now, he is pulled into an investigation and, cought in he middle, he finds his life and reputation on the line!

Thats all for now, folks.

I've finished Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk

I also found a link to one of the chapters in the book. This very chapter is infamous because, while Chuck was reading it to the crowd on his tours, a total of 75 people collapsed/fainted while listening.

read at your own risk:

http://www.seizureandy.com/stuff/guts.html

he is probably the most graphic horror writer ever.
