Well, well. I forgot to deliver my fun-filled book reviews, haven't I?

Mouahahaha....

1. For Those Who Fell by William C. Dietz
First read day: September 10th, 2006.
Last read day: September 20th, 2006.
Read Time: 9 days of reading for a 410 paged book.
Read Speed: approx. 45.56 pages per day.

This was my first read for this author, and boy was it enjoyable. Its from his Legion of the Damned series. Its a space-war sci-fi novel, with different species and armies. It was real cool. Its like star-wars minus The Force/Jedi or Starship Troopers minus Bugs. Basically humans/humanoid-aliens vs. other humans/humanoid-aliens. Any sci-fi fans out there? Check this out. Its well worth it.

2. Star Wars: Betrayal by Aaron Allston
First read day: September 21st, 2006.
Last read day: October 5th, 2006.
Read Time: 7 days of reading for a 387 paged book.
Read Speed: approx. 55.29 pages per day.

And this was my first (well, second if you count the small kid's one I read a long time ago) Star Wars novel. Its the first in the series of Legacy of the Force, one I will continue sometime, but I haven't gotten around to yet; oh and by the way, the series is not all by him: the other books will be by different authors, 'cept I think he's gunna do one more of 'em. Mostly I'm discouraged because its not done yet, and I wanna be able to read the all at once!

This follows the story from the movies, and is about the sons of Luke/his wife (I forget her name ) and Han/Leia. Both sons are Jedi (as is Leia ). Simply put, its beyond cool. I love Star Wars and this was some of the most dandy of candy I possibly could have found out there to treat my Star Wars sweetooth (nice metaphore, eh? ). If you like Star Wars, you MUST read this book. I don't care if you don't like reading, you MUST read this book.

3. Artemis Fowl : The Lost Colony by Eoin Colfer
First read day: October 7th, 2006.
Last read day: October 23rd, 2006.
Read Time: 4 days of reading for a 385 paged book.
Read Speed: 96.25 pages per day.

Remember when I said I liked Colfer's science-fiction stuff better? This was the PERFECT example. This is his 5th book in the Artemis Fowl series, and I'm still loving ever page of it. This series must be one of my favorites. A criminal boy-genious (now in his late teens), a hidden technologically advanced magical people, modern society, humour, action, and chaos of every sort. Read this whole series RIGHT NOW!

Oh, and if you were wondering: "Whats up with that oct7-23, but only 4 days reading ?" Well, I lost the book and started reading something else, then found it halfway through reading that something else, then finished it after reading that something else. Wanna know what that something else is? Well, you'll have to wait for my next post, because I'm done for now.

Gnight fans who I know love me.

*hears no applause*

Wahaha! Its not over yet!

So, what was that book that I read in the middle of Lost Colony?

1. The Faerie Queen: Book 1 by Edmund Spencer
First read day: October ??, 2006.
Last read day: October 18th, 2006.
Read Time: 6 days of reading for a 138 paged book.
Read Speed: 23 pages per day.

So, ??. Actually, the first four of those 6 days, I forgot to note down, so I don't have the date for them. Also, when I say 138 paged book, I mean 138 BIG pages. Lets just say I read 124 Cantos, 9 lines each, 10 syllables per line (the 9th has 12). Also, its all in an older english, so it was a little difficult to read.

But, I got it, and it was worth it. See, I was curious to see what this oldie was like (and by oldie, I mean this book was written in 1589 or 1590) so I thought, "what the hey, I'll read Book 1". And I did (as we know ). I really enjoyed it. It was a huge mix of fairy tales that are all part of the adventure of the 'Knight of the Red Crosse'. I hope to read the other books some day, but it is exausting. Still, interesting to see where some of our epic knight fantasy tales come from. Cool stuff. A good read, but not exacly an easy one. Read it if you're up to the challenge.

Oh, and the actual title is "The First Booke of The Faerie Queene: Contayning The Legende of the Knight of the Red Crosse, or Of Holinesse." Thats directly from the book; no spelling errors. Imagine reading a text where alot of words are spelt differently.

2. StarCraft: Queen of Blades by Aaron Rosenberg
First read day: October 26th, 2006.
Last read day: October 29th, 2006.
Read Time: 3 days of reading for a 349 paged book.
Read Speed: approx. 116.33 pages per day.

When I used to play the RTS computer game StarCraft by Blizzard, I was more fascinated by the storyline and the history in the textbook manual, than I was by the actual game (though I loved the game with a passion). Instead of trying to beat it at first, I used cheatcodes to simply get all the story as soon as I could. Then, I went and beat it.

This book was more of that awsome story. It goes in depth of what happens in 3 to 5-ish missions (I think). It was very entertaining, and I expect to eventually read all the StarCraft books, and maybe those of other Blizzard games I loved. If you enjoyed StarCraft as a game, especially the story, then you should read this book. If you haven't even heard of StarCraft, you can still enjoy the cool science-fiction of this novel.

3. Dragon Tears by Dean Koontz
First read day: October 30th, 2006.
Last read day: November 2nd, 2006.
Read Time: 4 days of reading for a 377 paged book.
Read Speed: 94.25 pages per day.

Yep, I whipped out another Koontz. Another great Koontz! Another one of his supernatural novels, this was a real fun book to read. Crazy supernatural villain, crazy theories, cops set on the edge of reality, the people caught in the middle, action, sarcasm, insanity, and the consiquences of every action. Though, to be honest, I didn't enjoy this one as much as some of his others. Not that it was worse; it just didn't captivate me in the same way. Oh, well. I still suggest it to those Koontz fans or just plain horror novel fans.

Hmm, one more? Yeah, one more.

4. Night Wars by Graham Masterton
First read day: November 3rd, 2006.
Last read day: December 9th, 2006.
Read Time: 11 days of reading for a 354 paged book.
Read Speed: approx. 32.18 pages per day.

Well, as you can see, this'un took me a WHILE. I went for long spaces of not reading it. But this time, its not just because I had no time, but that I wasn't pulled in.

Remember when I said I loved Masterton's last book (the Doorkeepers)? Well, this one was still entertaining (and I loved one of the characters ) but it fell short of being entertaining enough . It had too many aspects of it that just didn't pull me in. I lost some interest, and that was the delay. But I still think it was worth reading, despite any flaws it had in my mind. Heck, maybe its like that Tom Clancey book: maybe this one just wasn't my style.

Well, since I loved Doorkeepers so much, I'll still get around to reading another Masterton book and I'll judge from there. If you want to try a sci-fi thriller, this one can still work. I guess I just didn't like the idea of it and a certain vugarity of one aspect (that was there for a reason, a good reason, but I still didn't like it). Oh well, try it out and make your own opinion.

There we are, I'm well on my way to emptying my mind of all those reviews. Only 9 more to go (for now).

Hmmm. Good question. Lets see...

Ah! I really loved his Odd Thomas trilogy (which are some of the books I will review soon ). They get you interested, keep you interested, and are full of sarcastic humour and action/crazy theories.

Lets just say its the stories of Odd Thomas, a young man who can see the dead. They don't speak, but they come to him for help so that they can pass on; usually for justice. Sounds like another boring Ghost Whisperer type thing? Well its not. Because ghosts are not the main course of these adventures. He sees other things as well, things that signal a soon-to-come brutal massacre. And in his small hometown, they are gathering. He has to stop the devestation to come before its too late.

Sound interesting?

The books are Odd Thomas, Forever Odd, and Brother Odd. They are all awsome.

I also very much liked The Taking (which I read before I started reviewing books here). Its an apocalyptic invasion type thing... well, it LOOKS like that, but looks are ALWAYS deceiveing when you're reading a Dean Koontz book. What is it exactly? Can't be sure until the end! This is another one I'd suggest.

Those are my favorites, but I liked all of them. I can't wait for his Frankenstein part 3 to come out already! I only read part 1 (because I wanted to be able to read all of'em in a row, but #3 got delayed by a year -- actually, it was delayed by his Odd Thomas books (2 and 3) ironic, no? ).

Yeah... so, those first 4 I mentioned, those were awsome.

Reading The Murders in the Rue Morgue (and other stories). All by Edgar Allen Poe. His literature is great for me. But I need better.

Woot! I've finally found some time (and determination) to pump out a few more book reviews.

1. The Husband by Dean Koontz
First read day: December 11, 2006.
Last read day: December 27th, 2006.
Read Time: 8 days of reading for a 400 paged book.
Read Speed: 50 pages per day.

So this was another Koontz book along the lines of Velocity: not supernatural. It is an action thriller about an average man pushed to see just how far he will go to save the life of his wife. Once again an amazing thriller. Better than Velocity? Mayhap.

2. Lisey's Story by Stephen King
First read day: December 28th, 2006.
Last read day: January 17th, 2007.
Read Time: 15 days of reading for a 509 paged book.
Read Speed: 33.93333333333.... pages per day.

Another amazing story from Sire King (pardon the pun ). His newest (well, as I write this post it is ) This one was a bit different, but still just as awsome. It had a bit of a "fantasy" feel to it; a fantastic world revolving around a normal world. It seems like a normal story at first, but as you read on, it becomes more and more twisted and scary and fascinating. Any Stephen King fan (and even you not-yet-King-fans) read this book. Because even if you aren't one (a King fan), this book might make you another.

3. Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz
First read day: January 18th, 2007.
Last read day: January 30th, 2007.
Read Time: 9 days of reading for a 446 paged book.
Read Speed: 49.5555555555... pages per day.

What I said earlier. So, basically, a freaking awsome book.

4. Forever Odd by Dean Koontz
First read day: January 31st, 2007.
Last read day: Febuary 9th, 2007.
Read Time: 5 days of reading for a 334 paged book.
Read Speed: 66.8 pages per day.

So, Odd Thomas is up to his old tricks. That is, being unable to stop himself from being pulled into the need to save lives with the aid of those who have lost theirs. Another awsome book. Odd Thomas is a character that really captures you. He's just a normal guy, but not really.

5. Dragon's Of Autumn Twilight : Dragonlance Chronicles Volume 1 by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
First read day: Febuary 19th, 2007.
Last read day: March 7th, 2007.
Read Time: 9 days of reading for a 444 paged book.
Read Speed: 49.33333333333... pages per day.

I was worried that this was going to be one of those cruddy fantasy wannabe books. It wasn't. It was awsome. I'm really thinking of reading the whole series. ... Ah, yea, if I ever find all the books. I really would though, given the chance. It had a really cool story, memorable characters, and pulls you right into the LOTResque feeling of fantasy.

6. Brother Odd by Dean Koontz
First read day: March 8th, 2007.
Last read day: March 14th, 2007.
Read Time: 5 days of reading for a 364 paged book.
Read Speed: 72.8 pages per day.

Once again, Odd Thomas had another super cool adventure. In fact, things seem to go to the next level in this one. The terror is rizing and Odd Thomas's retreat from the horrors he has lived only brings him to something more powerful and more terrible than he has ever encountered. READ THIS BOOK!

Allllll riiiight!! I think that's enough for now. I have 5 more books to review, and I'd better do it before I read more of 'em. See yall later!

I just finished it a few days ago (full review upcomming. ). I really liked it. Good ole Tolkien. I remembered it a bit from the Silmarillion version, but this one is the whole full-legnth story, and I loved that. You should enjoy it.
