Great news for all Trackmania fans!
A new episode in the Trackmania series has been released and best of all, it's TOTALLY FREE! Simply search for 'Trackmania Nations' with Google and you'll find several websites you can download the entire game from.
Let's race baby!

What's trackmania? Do you race, or do you build tracks? Or both?

Yeah real good game. if you don't mind the Starforce protection. (on a free game wtf?)

every time you use starforce god crashes a PC. Please think of the underpaid, stressed out ITers.

So how is the in-game advertising? Nobody has mentioned it, so I guess it can't be too bad (at least for now...).

So, it is nothing else than a big, big advertisement, in the shroud of a game ???

Well, at least you can cut your internet connection.

I'm not familiar with the company. They could be reasonable and place static ads along retaining walls, etc (like what is done during real races), or they could have flashing neon billboards all over the place.

I assume the ads will be few and subtle to start with, and probably increase quantity and visibility during the contest the game was created for. After the contest, they would likely advertise as much as they can (within whatever limits they find acceptable), based on how many advertisers sign up, which in turn would be based (at least in part) on the response rate from players.

Okay, but this in-game advertisement is relatively new to me. Thus I'm a bit suspicious. IGN or was it Gamespot ? had in its "best & worst of 2005" article series also a small article about in-game advertisement.

Well, as long as they don't collect personal data it's fine - also they shouldn't try to make my HD full as well, I need a bit space left on it.

Anyway, I've downloaded it, because I want to try it out one day, although I'm quite sure it won't run on my PC. "Future investment", so to say.
