Hi, I just got Divine Divinity a couple days ago and I absolutely love it. Right now I'm a lvl 12 mage and I just got out of the Cursed Abbey (I think that's what it's called).

Anyway when I left there I noticed that I wasn't running. I tried hitting the "Run mode" key and that did nothing either. I looked at my stamina bar then and noticed I had no stamina.

I tried resting and when I wake up I still have zero stamina. I drank a stamina potion and as soon as it fills up some of my stam bar it starts draining like I was running but I'm standing still.

I'm not sure what the problem is or if it can be fixed but I'm unable to continue my game without walking to everyplace.

Oh I also tried reloading my saved game (unfortunately I think I saved over my last save where I didn't have this problem). If anybody knows how to resolve this any help would be appreciated thanks!

Edit: And I do have latest patch installed

The Halberd of the Rock striked again.
Really it's my favourite question.

Open your inventory and look for the Halberd of the Rock.
This weapon is cursed. Just drop it on the floor or sell it but don't keep it in your inventory.

LOL

Now that you mention that I do remember picking up an unidentified Halberd. And now I feel stupid for not knowing about it. That was really an evil thing to put in the game for ignorant people like me

Thanks for the help!

Yep an evil thing but a great idea.
A lot of people have been caught by this Larian trick.
I played a very long time before understanding this bad joke.

I love that thing.. The first time my friend got that item he almost went crazy.. so funny.. he thought the reason was that he was inside a certain building in the abbey. (I didn't know any better either)

Even more funnier.. He started playing a new game on DD again last week and did the same thing..

"What! Why is it still draining my stamina!? I just walked out of the building!"

I also thought it was the building at first (it is called the 'cursed' abbey, after all). I became encumbered and teleported back to base to drop off loot, and noticed my stamina start refilling. After checking out the last item I had dropped more closely, I noticed the description on the halberd saying there was something strange about it, and picking it up again drained my stamina.

I thought exactely the same thing and i played the part of the Abbey without stamina. It was boring.
After having solved the quests of the Abbey, i noticed that i was still losing my stamina.
Then i had the idea to look at my inventory and i discovered the cursed halberd of the rock.

The first time that I picked up the halbred I thought, "Holy sh*t. This is a great weapon." After about 5 min I noticed that my stamina was gone. So I stood still to regain it back. Then when I saw that that wasn't working I thought that I might be too heavey. So while dropping items I found the cursed halbred. Now Geoff the blacksmith is cursed.

It does't matter. Geoff is too stupid.

Yeah, lol. And after that you just tell him you wanna trade, and he goes into the shop. Then you lock the door and steal everything he has outside .

Only when i play a thief i can steal....im playing a barbarian who i feel cannot use a helmet except if it has horns on it.

Plus i cant use a shield.

Wields only blunt weapons like hammer and maces.

I must say, I'm impressed you play an 'invented' class consistently. Barbarian: no helmet, no shields; nice! Original approach to a character

There was a post on different characters and how to play them.

E.g paladin...can only wield sword/shield- cannot perform any evil actions.
Uses mainly skills from body/mind e.g magical might e.t.c

Assassin- uses daggers and 1 handed aword. Must wear a closed helmet- uses most of thieves/posin skills.
Backstab then then switch to sword

Monk- cant use weapons and healing potions..lol ..that would be fun.
Must donate money to charity..or give away money...lol.

I think thats way too restricted Dont make those class specific tyhings!

I completely agree.
The Divinity universe is complete freedom.
I hope Larian will not go back to the class system and will not make a "standard" RPG like Sacred.
Please let us customize our characters just as we like.

I just dont know why all those RPGs do all things class specific, is it tradition or somthing (d&d)?

I think most people would like tatal freedom more, and if they dont in a game, they can just make a pure WIz/Warrior/thief/whatever character.
And with the restrictions, why shouldnt a warrior be able to equip a staff or read a scroll? There may happen something wrong but at least he can try..

I think the classthing goes not only back to D&D, but allso to Diablo (and most likelly even further back to some old RPG I've only heard the name of). Especially Diablo 2 has a very restricted classystem, you choose a class, and you get skills no other class has.
D&D is a bit less restricted, but you choose your class, and then you can't really change. You CAN multi-class though, and that gives you somewhat more freedom. IMO a game like NWN has a quite fun charactersystem to play around with, to sort of take advantage of the system and create interesting classcombos .
But total freedom is allso good, since you can do whatever you want. But it would be nice if you could use 'skill-combos'. Just like in DD1, only that you can combo some of the skills for different effects. This would really add to the experimentlust in charactercreation, I think. But it should still be completelly free though, no classrestrictions. Best would be if you didn't get any startingskills, just starting skillpoints.

Yes, of course you are right. It's just fun to see a free system used that way.
