PLEASE TELL ME THERES A WAY TO FIX THIS!!!

Ok I only use quiksave as my only file because I got my own computer well as I've realised you should still always make a normal file, which i didn't. Well after I became the divine one I went to go across the swamp instead of doing what I should of done and used the spell to become a ghost I just used necroshift and became one of the blue dragonrider guys and just thought I could of bolted across. Well i realised I can't and I died in the center of the swamp. Well i went to do quikload but I was such in a habbit of doing quiksave I did that instead and now I've saved my file while I was dead and thats the only file I got and I ***!!!REALLY!!!*** don't want to start over again. IS THERER A WAY TO FIX THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

With the patch installed you can not quicksave when dead. A few people have done this by accident (or loaded an earlier save when they meant to save their progress). A couple changed from the default hotkeys for quicksave and quickload, to make it harder to accidentally mix them up.

The only way I know to fix this problem (EDIT: and by 'know' I meant 'guess') would be to hex edit a file in the save folder and replace the character data, as described in the topic I've been transformed into a rabbit!!!.
EDIT: this works to restore your character from polymorph traps, but not death.

Check your PM (click 'My Home' in the top menu bar, then 'Received Private Messages').

Replacing the character data (as described in the polymorph trap topic) doesn't work when you are dead. I tried with character data from a new game as well as from my save at that point. The character can be restored to a standing position, but will be unresponsive (ie the game still lists them as dead somewhere). If attacked the character can move a few steps automatically, but can not be directed anywhere.

Rather than try to track down where else in the data.000 file the 'dead' status might be stored, I edited my file to change the character from a male warrior to a female survivor (see Some more hex offsets...), and emailed it to you. You can use iZakaroN's SaveEditor (or from Kiya's site, with description) to adjust your stats and skills.

Normally you should not permanently mix files from different saves, but the wastelands are fairly linear; there are no important quests that you could cause a problem with by doing things in a different order than I did. If you didn't talk to the dragon yet you might not be able to with my data.000 file in your save, but that isn't essential.

Heh, I'm the exact opposite. I'm a compulsive saver. I end up with hundreds of save files in every RPG I play. Better than no saving at all, especially if you have the hard-drive space.

Me too. Even without running into any bugs or technical problems, I tend to reload previous saves to try solving a quest a different way, or to revert to before spending stat or skill points on something that turned out not to be that effective.
The save game folders in DD are fairly compressable, so I zipped older saves when I started running out of room, and eventually burnt the zip files to CD-R. This actually came in handy if I wanted a screenshot from a particular area or needed to test something, but I've also kept saves from games that may never be out of their boxes again.

I always make like 5-6 saves and then i start overwriting them like in oblivion i now have saved about 600 times <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

The reason i overwrite is that if i don't i will run out of space and most of the times 5-6 saves is more then sufficient for me
