Seems that now that I've started posting, I can't stop. But this is the last, I promise! (I think)

I'd like to see these things added to future Larian RPGs

1. Time - let's have day and night, let's have seasons

2. Weather - and to go with the above, let's have some rain and snow

3. Rest - it's so unrealistic to have to rest only when badly wounded: how about needing rest every 24 or 48 'hours' or taking health and stamina hits?

4. Food - and how about needing to eat once a 'day' or else taking a health hit?

Details like these add hugely to the enjoyment and realism of the gaming experience, imo. For instance, the first RPG I ever played was Knights of Legend (Origin Systems, 1989), and I have to say that for sheer detail it was one of the best ever. Today's RPG designers could do worse than take a look at what Origin managed to fit onto a few 5.25" floppy disks!

Time is fine, especially if NPCs have their own schedules, etc. There wasn't much difference in DD between night and day, besides lighting, but it was nice to have. Weather and seasons would also help with atmosphere.

Not needing to eat or rest may be unrealistic, but requiring them could be tedious, depending on how it is implemented. I've played games where there were health penalties if you didn't eat, but rather than add to the realism, it just meant you had to stop by a store once in awhile and buy 99 loaves of bread and 99 pieces of meat for each character.

I couldn't agree more. I'm all for realism, but sometimes it can be a bore. Raze's example is a good one. Same thing goes for getting tired in Baldur's Gate. Realistic, sure, but it resulted in nothing more than clicking the rest button when you didn't feel the need to and/or during inopportune moments.

Don't let our objections stop you from posting suggestions though, rather on the contrary, every idea is welcome. There are some large threads already in which people discuss this kind of thing, so you could post in thise too. Here you can find the most extensive one.

Could you expand on that?

I think, Wazzz just means that this would be much more programming and therefore even more delay of Divinity 2 ...

And we agreed it was not necessary.

Yes, but some ideas are too good ...

"Why didn't they say this earlier ...?"

No, Alrik, you misunderstand.

And why do I get the impression that you think I am a programmer?

A lot can be decuced from a sigh. Though it must be something negative. You could just say what it is.

I knew you're not, you mentioned it somewhere I believe. Can you tell us what your job description is at Larian? I'm interested.

Seasons- If we have different weather types in fixed positions of the game seasons might not make too much difference unless with the season you can interact with objects in a different way....

I never thought that you were a programmer. I was writing it in a neutral way. At least I thought so.

I think I shhould stop writing altogether today.
