It was supposed to be released here in Canada(at least here in Chatham) on September 2nd, 2007. However, the local EB Games does not have it in, and the price for it is $0. That usually only happens to them for games that have been cancelled. However, with Bethesda creating the game I doubt that to be the case(it is not like it was being created by a small developer with money that they could run out of). Also, various computer magazines had tried playable builds of the game, and they said it was near completion.
Do you think it was just a case of needing more time for bug-squashing?
If anyone knows why this happened please let me know.
(Can you tell I've been eagerly waiting for this game for a looooong time? )

Well... the game isn't finnished yet, that's all I know. Fall 2008 is the preliminary date. And I wouldn't worry about it being cancelled .

Poop. Thanks for the news, even if it wasn't to say that it was going to be released today.

I've found EB Games invariably have inaccurate release dates. There's little to no point asking them.

I've noticed that. They say something isn't coming out, and then looky-looky it's on their shelves. Still the best place in town to get games, and I can pre-order Collector Editions from them.

Number 1 on my to get list, this game Fallout 1 and 2 were superb!
I've read about the new looks and everything, but I am curious about 1 thing..
one of the best things about the 'original' fallouts was the humour and the possibilities to say the funniest/cruelest things! I am wondering if that will be the same for fallout 3!!
Has any of you read something about this?

This game has won several awards already. However, it will not be released until next year(??)
I'm looking forward to play this game. Lately, I have been horribly busy to keep track of new games. I did enjoy the older Fallout games and hope the same for this new game.

Hi everyone. I just thought you should all read this before you go blindly accepting praise for Fallout 3. These days reviewers don't say bad stuff about games because if they do they get blocked in the future. So that's what this preview is for: to point out the things that weren't perfect: http://www.nma-fallout.com/article.php?id=38620Bethesda tried to block this article, which is a shame. They'd do better by actually listening to the feedback it presents.

Fallout 3, huh? I haven't finished Fallout 1 yet, since I stopped playing it about 2 years ago.
Hmmm... I've a feeling that this game is going to turn into yet another "graphic galore but low on plot" sort of game.
Given that it's Bethsada, I'd like to question their abilities and experience in creating a post-apocalyptic game. Haven't they created mainly fantasy games like Oblivion, Dagger Falls, etc.? If they're lacking in experience, then it is highly possible they might "draw from" various action games instead. Whether that transits into an immersive gameworld, will depend on the final product.
Furthermore, since this is a rather well-known series, expectations would be quite heavy considering the various aspects of the F1 and F2. And fan opinions might be kinda harsh given the success rate of Fallout: BOS.
Finally, from what I've heard about F3, it appears to be nothing but full of shiny graphics and massive explosions. It also seems like the characters are really bland too. There's nothing wrong with swearing but if every character does it for no rhyme or reason, then it's poor characterisation. And again, nothing wrong with immersive graphics but if the plot is paper-thin, then it seems they've messed up the game.
P.S. I've not played Oblivion but isn't the game more about player freedom than about plot? And Bethsada's "38 character per line" limit sounds hilarious for a game like Fallout where some of the characters in F1 really talked quite a bit(last I recalled, that is. I could be wrong).

Oh and one last thing:
Given that Fallout 1 was ABLE to have characters with varying emotions(like Tani and a few other folks), I can't believe they're having really bland faces in F3.
Tsk... tsk! Seems like they allocated all that $$$ into creating lots of explosions.

I thinks sometimes developers or their graphic people don't think about things from an earlier game having that much impact on the new one. Seems like alot of times they just look for ways to cut cost.

Actually, I don't think it's just about cutting costs but also about laziness and wanting to pander to the so-called "mainstream" gaming market. Why laziness? 'Cos good game design can be rather challenging and tough to implement, whereas sub-par game design is a lot easier to envision and implement. After all, if you think of a lot of innovative ideas, you also need to take into consideration various factors and weigh them carefully, especially when you've a budget and limited resources. And then, you also need to ensure that the ideas flow and click together. On the other hand, creating a lot of shiny graphics means you'd need a rather huge budget: license for programs, license for 3d engine, 3d plugins, game engine, etc. I'm sure they're reusing some of the stuff they did for Oblivion, however, creating the rest of the "beautiful" explosions surely requires quite a bit of a budget.
