uh... here's the skinny.

Suddenly, something in my game went *twing* and my character is no longer centered on the screen.

Going up ladders or down hatches just makes him disappear.

I can scroll around the map by moving my cursor to the edges...

All this strikes me as very bad and I'd really appreciate some help or advice. Thanks a lot.

8) Problem: I’ve lost focus of my player character
You most likely have your shift-lock key on which puts the game in non-focus-on-player-character mode. Switch it off and the game will jump back to your player character.

Could it be this problem?

this happened to me when i tried to use direct draw in setup config, i don't remember if i had caps lock on or not

Hit your Cap lock button, that happened to me too. That fixed it.
