I don't think it was anything you did which could have triggered this bug. People from the pub can wander out around Verdsitis and randomly sit down on suddenly appearing chairs. Some NPCs do walk around fairly quickly, that I recall. The pathfinding glitch with the guy in the Ducal inn should not have caused any problems.
If you head to the dark forest (or any unexplored places in Rivertown or Verdistis), does the fog of war reveal there? There are sewer entrances in a couple of the corners of the central park in Verdistis. Your character may be blind, a rare bug that can cause your sight range to drop or even become negative (possibly associated with mixing the sight skills and equipment sight skill bonuses, and removing that equipment under certain circumstances).
In this case, usually installing the
patch will fix the problem.
Some re-release versions of the game may already be updated to the latest 1.0034A version, as shown in the bottom right corner of the main menu, so would not need to be patched. The DVD version is already updated, and the patch (designed for the CD version) should not be installed.
If you already have the latest game version, or the patch does not help, your sight range can be edited directly.
Some more hex offsets... (see also
Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor)
Alternately, you can learn and unlearn the sight skills to gradually build up your sight range, or give some equipment a sight bonus.
please help with my blind heroIf you cast Wizard's Sight twice in the same location (cast it a second time before the fog-of-war fills in again from the first) it will remain clear. You can hold the shift key down to move the screen focus away from your character and towards the area you want to clear, but I would not want to rely on this to clear any large areas.
