Petra Schmitz over at the German GameStar magazine had a chance to play preview code of div2 . The extensive article – along with a bunch of new screenshots and a preview-video – describes the dragon, the quests, the charactersystem, mindreading and more.

Here’s her conclusion (translated from German):

Knock me down with a dragon’s scale! I haven’t seen such an affectionate, detailed and engrossing fantasy-RPG in ages. Fantastic and complex characters, an excellent story line, smart and amusing brawls and clever ideas make Divinity II: Ego Draconis a glittering gem in the genre, which – if released bug-free – you should not miss!

Potential: Very good

Head over to GameStar for the full preview.

Nice.
Read the preview via Google Translator sounds cool.
The video looked great.
So I'm guessing thats the final Interface for the PC.
Hoping for Pre-order Soon in teh UK.
I see the walking animations still there smile
Shame 360 version is not being shown much only a few 360 screens released and no gameplay frown
Can't wait till September.

At one point I just stopped reading, because it sounded almost like a walkthrough to me. :hihi:

Nice video. I think, some of the missing technical stuff like shadows of enemies and an echo during the dialogue in the cave are allready fixed. At least I hope so.

The preview of skills is a really cool idea. up

But please, please, please, make those questionmarks and other signs above people's heads optional, so that one can turn them off. :o

I'm begging you. ._.

I also hate these signs floating over the heads. It just destroys the experience for me.

Yep. These signs over heads and those shiny selection-effects when fighting someone really don't fit in any game especially in a one so beautiful as this.

I also want to experience my beloved Rivellon the purest way - unspoiled as much as possible by the "administrative" layer over it! silence

Anything else just seriously damages the immersion, one of the key features of RPG feeling.
And any guidance features ruin it for the "Explorer" type of player.
rolleyes

I would only consider use of thingies like a quest compass when picking up a game again previously abandoned for a longer period of time.
Then it comes in handy... for a brief re-orientation phase, that´d be!

So i hope the Larians had a change of mind (or even planned it from the start, just didn´t want to miss the fun to stir us up by leaving us in the dark about it badsmile )
... and made these "dirty little helpers" at least optional.

Risen will, Arcania alias Gothic 4 will - so why shouldn`t Divinity 2? [Linked Image]

Apart from that, happy congratulations to that raving preview! birthdayjump
If the shipped game really holds up to it, you´re hopefully in for some roaring success.

All that year-long work and passion put in would certainly deserve it. cheer

I hope those bloody ? and ! are optional.

The rest looks great. Hopefully the "sonic the hedgehog" jumping is gone too.

With the above gone, this might very well be as close to a perfect game as humanly possible.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

I think that jumping is still there.
They did say he's very Agile in previous articles.

I assume this will be so. I think Lar or someone else said it.

Otherwise the game would be too easy, I think I read.
