Hey guys,

I found a key in one of the houses near the well cave entrance. There was a key hidden in a corner under some crates or barrels etc, but I couldn't find the right purpose for it yet. I went outside and saw the well cave, but it's locked and I can't get in with lockpicking. How do I get in?

Well Cave is accessed by taking Beatrice's quest. Many chests with matching keys can be opened with a high enough lock-picking level. If you lock-pick a chest before you find and use the matching key then it will appear that key has no use. You can never tell if a chest has a key that goes with it or if a chest with a matching key can be opened through lock-picking, so if you find a key and it doesn't go to anything then you probably already opened it.

Also if you find a key in a house it probably goes to something in that house.

Except for the part that there was nothing locked in that house :P
Normally, when it has to be opened by a key, it says 'This *door/chest/...* can't by opened by lockpicking'

So it would be strange if it suddenly did work. But it's possible I guess.
Is beatrice quest the one with the divine decendant thingy?

Beatrice is in High hall, up hill from the merchant guy.
Hint: mind read her and call her out on what you learn, you'll get a bonus for doing her quest then.

Was that key in a house that no one is around, like deserted.
Look around in that house and see if maybe there is not a box/case up on as shelf that the key is used for.
Can't find anything on that key in any of the walkthroughs I've looked at. I broke every vase and box in the game I saw so I probably found it but what it's for I can't say as I don't remember it.

What I meant is that some chests can be opened by either a key or lock-pick. You can't tell with those. Ones that give a red message, yeah you need a key.
