I met Simeon the philosopher.
He asks me 2 malachites.

After accepting the quest I go back to the battle tower, get 2 malachite, come back.

When I talk to Simeon I have no dialog option to finish the quest.
I can only tell I will come back later.

Are you sure you got Malachite Gems and not Malachite Ore? (it is the gems you need, and they are hard to find)

That one got me my first playthrough. One way to get two malachite gems is to buy them for 1500 each in the main city in first half of game. The city where rhode sends you to investigate dragon sightings. There is a vender in center of town that sells 2 malachite gems.(He will buy them back for more money then you paid but much better to keep them and earn money other ways)
