OK, I'm going to play the game again as a mage this time

I know I'll need a couple non-mage skills as well to complete some quests, but as for the magic skills what do you all recommend. What about weapons...are staffs the best

Sorry if this has been answered before...I did a search but couldn't find anything specific to mage.

Thanks!

..good question..
i'm searching for a good mage weapon, too (instead of my ..how it's named (in german: armbrust) - it's no bow, but similar to it.. - are there very strong such weapons there to find or buy, too .. or should i change to e.g. normal bows or another weapons? )
fyi: now i'm @lvl 27, finished ionas dungeon right now and am heading off to verdistis and dark forest..

hope, someone can help us three

many greetings,
th0m

Do you mean an "crossbow"?

Edit: I think a dagger is the better weapon for an magician.

I'm a mage, I find bows best, the skills I like are:

Metorstrike at least lvl 2
Freeze at least lvl 3
Restoriation lvl 2
hell spikes lvl 5
elemantal bolt lvl 3
skeleton wall lvl 1

I also like a bow, I found one that did 150 dam at the beginning (very useful)
These are it's stats:

4 charms
+2 consitution
+4 intelligence
+3 strength
+80 magic
+40 vitally
141-163 damage
duribillity 20/20

Perfect or what?

a crossbow .. that's it, yes
are there some good crossbows with up to more to 100 hp to find around in the three first areas - or should i better change to another weapon?

[till now it was relatively fine with my crossbow i found with lvl17 (with up to about 70hp and +1 to two stats and one extra skill i don't remember - including 2 skillpts. put in crossbow..)]

I'm going to concentrate on upping my intelligence stats, want to be brilliant this time around , so an Axe may require too much strength. I like the idea of a crossbow because I used a melee weapon throughout my last game (my Sword of the Gods was awesome!)

The best weapons and equipment are the same, regardless of class.

Even with a mage, you should be looking to get the Dragon Armour set and a decent sword as a backup weapon in case anything gets too close for comfort. That and a bow for things that are a long way off when you're low on Mana.

Good equipment with many Charm slots will allow you to build horrendous stats regardless of class, so you won't lose out on Intelligence either.

Most useful direct damage spells are Meteor Strike, Lightning Bolt and Deadly Disks. Elemental Strike is also good, particularly against tight clusters of foes.

Make sure you get Alchemy lvl 1 to make Restoration potions, as your Mana will drop like a stone.

I prefer the sword and shield combo for my wizard even though I primarily use magic to vanquish anything foolish enough to cross my path.

I am playing a female wizard and use any weapon that i come across, same with armour, spells: meteorstrike, arua of guarding, summon skeleton, master summoner, summon demonic aide, sketal wall, enchant weapon, trader's tongue, identify, lock pick, pickpocket, most things fall dead at my feet real fast.
