Ok, I started playing this on Xbox 360, as a demo, i liked it, went out and bought it, then my son who is only 8 started playing it as well, pretty soon it was obvious I wasn't getting on the xbox any time soon.
So I was talking to a mate who had bought it for the pc, but hadn't opened it due to all the bad press and low scores it got off the gamers mags. So I took it home, installed it, patched it and started playing.
Huge difference in gameplay between the two versions. I could understand the complaints with the xbox version, but the pc game is just simply, excellent.
There's bugs, there's glitchs and playing flames, I needed to save and reboot the pc every 4 hours to get it to play smoothly, some kind of memory loop or something i think, but even with that, the massive enjoyment derived from playing this totally makes all the bugs and problems go away.
I was sad to see the fate Rhode got, I wanted her to become my sexslave, even had a spot next to my throne in my tower picked out for her... guess there must be some necro in me. Thoughly enjoyed the game, the last part of flames with the escort, was pretty tough, until i realised the nuke could actually be fired more than once, from the plan as it was explained, i assumed I had to blow the airship up at it's destination, so the first time i played it, i died alot, but on experiemention i've now managed to get the airship all the way to the end and it still had 50% health.
The rest of the game.. was just fantastic, the quests, the sub plots, the humour, the puzzles, the combat... Absolutely superb.
My worst three quests... the lava cave with the necromancer, the jumping around in the tower to get a treasure chest that only spawns for 10 seconds and the demon in the wellcave, spawns so many mobs.. damn that was hard work. Overall I'd be happy to give this 9.5/10 for gameplay and imagination. 5/10 for graphics, 8/10 for sounds and music and enviromentals and probably... 2/10 for bugs, compatibility and playability due to freezes, crashes and falling through the map.
Other than the latter an absolutely superb game. Can't wait for the next part, really liked the duel ending scenarios as well.
