I would imagine that this has been asked a million times...but I couldn't find it with the search function...

Is there any reason to save our save game files from Divine Divinity in order to possibly import our character into Riftrunner or DD2? Or are these both going to be 'stand alone' games with no possibility to build on our current characters?

No. Not only is the game set 20 years later then Divinity, but it says in the interview that the player in Riftrunner is not the Divine One, a.k.a. your character in Divinity. It simply wouldn't make any sence if you would

If you aren't the 'divine one' it wouldn't make sense to import the character. And since DD2 is set after Riftrunner, I guess it's out of the question there as well. That is sort of too bad. I don't know about anyone else, but I get rather attached to my characters during the course of an RPG. That is one of my favorite things about the BIS games...being able to import my characters into the expansions. I WANT AN EXPANSION!!!

they rpobably just say, the divine one, and, the divine one. never say, Johnson the divine one, or Toni the fivine one. they'll just say 'the divine one' or else Lewis, the divine one.

"divine one" is relevant before the 'accident' that leaves the character attached to a demon knight. after that, it ain't so divine any more.

yin/yang will be more like it. jekyll/hyde is also an alternative. nuts or split personality will be more modern. maybe u guys/gals have more inventive/creative names for the duality hero.

The char in Riftrunner is not the Divine One, but a member of his church.

No, I think you play The Divine #25, bowing down to the 24 before you, but having power over those who come after you...

OK, there is not much sense in importing DivDiv chars into RRR... but Branwyn asked not only about RRR but also about DivDiv2:

Is there any reason to save our save game files from Divine Divinity in order to possibly import our character into Riftrunner or DD2?

And do we know enough about the upcoming DivDiv2 to be able to say that there can't be such an import feature?

No matter what, I have to say that I don't support importin old chars... but there other reasons for that actually.

We do know that it takes place after Riftrunner, which takes place 20 years after the first DD. A lot would have changed, in the human world at least, and the Divine One would be thoroughly godlike instead of a new god... who knows, maybe, but I doubt it would allow for an import feature -- hmm, unless it strips away all the items, which would be easier for balance.

I think importing characters would be a bad idea. There were too many problems with characters in Divine Divinity that need sorting out. With skills added and removed in the next games, imported characters aren't going to have the same feel about them. And this way you get the joy of creating a building a whole new character! If they release an expansion to one of the games I would agree with character importing.

By the way, the GHeldenimport is another one of our "Insider Jokes" ...

It had once to do with a real import of characters (heroes = helden) , but that never was implemented anywhere (I think it was something about importing characters from the german version of the Realms of Acrania series into LMK. And LMK died, as you know).

Yeah, the german part is with Larian ( I mean as part of the Forums) since 1999.

And some of us even earlier, back to the times when LMK still existed.

Plus character imports will force Larian to artificially rise the game's difficulty level. I would like to start another character anyway...
