Well there were a few bugs; but also if you click on the books in the bookcase near the end (opposite end of swen) the game crashes frown

I didn't have that problem (disk or download version), or recall this being reported before, so it is not a common issue, at least.

Those 5 books are in German: Translation of the "Tales of the Lost Kingdom : Rescuing the Princess"

I have the gog version with the patch you provided for the music fix. I can send a save if you want smile

Though to be honest I suspect it is considered minor in the big scheme of things - however I did make a save just before trying to read the book and it is reproducible 5 out of 5 tries smile

To be honest the game is showing some age and I prefer the more 'adult' tone of DKS. I certainly hope that D:OS takes a more adult tone (I hope that make sense).

In my Steam version the same happened, maybe the books can be read in your inventory (didn't try that), but inside the bookcase, clicking one of the books to read it crashed my game (even after six years).

Is there a possibility to read the books in game?

I can read the story outside of the game by following the advice given by Raze_Larian on the Steam forum

Quote
If you are so inclined, and able, you can read the story outside of the game by opening the file below in a text editor (ignore the binary file warning; just don't re-save) and searching for the term Teil I 4 times (for Teil I, II, III and IV), and then Teil V :
..\SteamApps\common\divine_divinity\main\startup\static\books.000

I have the German version installed.
Switching to the English version before entering the hatch did not prevent the game from crashing.

How can I fix this bug/prevent the crash in order to be able to read the books in game?
In game the books are just labled as "Buch" ("book") when I click on them.

When I played DD a long time ago, I had similar problem with the russian version of the game - books were unreadable. Interestingly enough, installing full English version fixed those bugs.

Anyway, GOG version had some bugs from the game fixed (the same goes for Beyond Divinity too). It's incredibly
cheap - $0.49 (0.416 in €), so maybe try there. You probably can refund if it's not. Good luck.
