OK I lied. I originally said that the only problem I had with Divine Divinity was the randomness of the treasure generation system (which is thankfully being overhauled in Riftrunner). But now I've thought of something else I disliked - the English voice acting. I know that a lot of other games feature equally atrocious voice acting, but Interplay and Bioware games have raised the bar, and I'm not satisfied with anything less than that sort of quality.
Now since Riftrunner features fully spoken dialogue, I can only hope that Larian invests a bit more on the voiceovers. Not that it'll stop me from buying the game if the voice acting is bad - I'll just turn voices off so it will be a wasted feature.
I also hope that having full voiceovers doesn't result in less in-depth dialogue. That's one of the mistakes Origin made with Ultima IX, and look how well that game was received (sarcasm alert!). Obviously this is a matter of personal preference, but I like reading (or listening) to loads of dialogue.

In my opinion the spoken dialogues were rather good.
I wonder now how much cd's the game need with all the spoken dialogues, because Swen said in a old interview that it would take to much cd's if you want all dialogues spoken.

There was nothing wrong for me about spoken dialogues in Divine Divinity they were quite good but I hope as you said they don't get less in-depth just for the sake of having fully spoken dialogues

Actually with modern compressed audio formats (eg mp3, ogg), as long as you don't go for really high bit rates, you could probably fit most if not all of Divine Divinity's dialogue on a CD. That's a layman's estimate, mind you, so don't mock me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, you are probably right, i was thinking that too, but and probably has a lot of dialogue, but with ogg it still should be possible to fit it on 1 cd.

It is an audio format, similar in purpose to mp3. Google -> 'ogg' -> 1st result. http://www.vorbis.comOgg Vorbis is a completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology with all the benefits of Open Source.

Obviously this is a matter of personal preference, but I like reading (or listening) to loads of dialogue. *cough-cough, sneeze-sneeze* As I remember well, only SOME of the reviewers said the voice acting is bad. It was OK, some were better (warrior male, mage male, survivor male, survivor female) some were worse (Lianor, mage female...). The people who gave DD bad scores were complete idiots [Most of the time, "IDIOT" = PC Gamer U.S.A.]. Anyway what worries me is the size of spoken dialogues... I mean EVERY dialogues is spoken??? It will take one CD, but it means the game itself will take 2 CDs? Ogg is my favorite format ever! The filesize is smaller (128 kbps Ogg is one MB smaller than 128 mb MP3, roughly speaking) and the code is free.

What worries me is that spoken dialogue is expensive to make and accomplish. When it comes down to a choice between game features and spoken dialogue then I would go for the first at any time.
On a side note. Lar mentioned once that he switched to ogg format for

Indeed . I wonder who's paying.
Nice! Ogg is good, another reason to love , it has my favorite audio format!

It will take one CD, but it means the game itself will take 2 CDs? One extra CD. Boo hoo. Baldurs Gate was on 5 CDs. And Phantasmagoria used 7! (No I didn't buy that piece of crap. My idiot friend did. No offence intended towards the idiot friend, of course.)

No, you misunderstood my question, I thing: Lar said that will that the same number of CDs as . If one CD is for audio, then the game itself takes 2 CDs.

I think that Larian would be somewhat flexible about how many CDs they would use, but if they are limited to 2 CDs total then fully spoken dialogue might be a Bad Thing(TM) after all.

Hmm, I can't find it anymore . Maybe it was another interview??? Anyway, is it me or the person who interviewed Lar from IGN asked pretty stupid questions? Who will ask questions like "are the items/armor important?" and "will there be friendly NPCs?"

I thought I read that there was going to be full speech in RiftRunner. Speech doesn't take up much room in MP3 format. I'd like it so long as they add an option:
Speech: Always, Once, or Never.
The Once option would speak the first time you hear the dialouge, but not on subsequent occasions. I am so sick of "Stay a while, and listen!" and "Ach! What ken I do fer you?".
