gives Freeze, say 3 points or something... does this mean that it is Cast when strikes, the enemy falls under the freeze effect when you hit it with the weapon, or does it mean that you get to cast level 3 freeze as a spell? *hoping for the first alternative*

If the sword says frost, then it is indeed the first alternative. Everytime you hit something it will be frozen. On the other hand the sword may just be giving you plus to the skill freeze, and that's the second alternative. So, check and see if it says freeze or frost.

Frost(3), Spiritual Damage(2), etc. = a passive effect separate from your skill set which is automatically applied

Freeze +1, Spiritual Damage +1, etc. = a bonus to your skill set, which may be either active or passive depending on the skill

If it says poison damage(x) or spiritual damage(x)

x denoting a number between 1 and 5

does that mean it adds only x damage to the strike? or does it have set values like if its 3 then it adds 9 spiritual damage?

The number in brackets indicates the level of the skill, which for the most part corresponds to your own skills in terms of damage and percentage chance to hit, etc. However, Frost on a weapon will ignore the target's resistances, and so will work on creatures that Freeze does not.

For detailed descriptions of skills in your own skill set;

The Locus Inn - Skill System (individual paths, and a skill table for each class)

RPG Vault - Divine Divinity Skills XI (links to other skill sets at bottom of page)

Ive been looking for a place that tells you what stats mean when on a sword. As in the stats that dont add to your skills, but are totally different and I have no info on. Just like frost and the different damages, along with the mana and life drain. They arent skills you can learn, and because of that, I have no way to learn what they do.

Most of them are just damage boosts. I think the others are:

Frost - Freezes the enemy for a while.
Life Drain - Gives you health on a successful strike.
Mana Drain - Gives you mana on a successful strike.
Deathblow - Kills the enemy.

All of these, along with the damages, have a percentage chance of happening based on the level (out of 5).

Welcome! Yay for another Aussie!

You can learn what skills do by trial and error. Use iZakaroN's SaveEditor to get yourself at a high enough level to max Know Creature, and maybe bump up agility (at least). Next, get a basic weapon and save in front of a monster (or a group) after running your mouse over it (to set its stats). Now kill the monster, keeping track of the damage done per hit (with a new character, Jake has lots of hit points, and will give you a statististically significant data set without too much re-loading. Next, try DAD's item editor to add one or more effects, then re-load, re-kill the monster and keep track of the damage. To test Health/Mana Drain, you would have to take some damage or run down your mana first.
Try that for awhile, and you should understand why no one has done up a comprehensive list for all the different skill levels. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
