I read that the Slasher quest can hang if the large orc has nobody to test it on. Well, I didn't kill any orcs, they all sort of gathered in one corner, though. When I give the large orc Slasher, he moves towards a crossbowman, and then does nothing. The game is still active, and can be paused or I can exit out to the main menu, but the quest never completes.

Any ideas? Perhaps if I get some of the orcs in the corner to move, I can complete it. Otherwise, I think I'm out of luck.

Is it a big deal if I don't complete it? Will I lose particularly valuable XP or a reward? I assume that this will not stop me from completing any future quests, but am not sure. I'd hate to have to do the whole game over again to that point (since I have actually already completed the entire dungeon — I had to go back for slasher since I missed it the first time around), so I prefer to simply abandon the quest and keep the axe, if that's the way it goes. Slasher is a pretty nice piece as it is, and I am a warrior.

Oh, and I did try to attack those orcs, but I can't seem to be able to, since they are neutral towards me (perhaps there is some trick to attacking or moving them, like setting off a trap or some such thing). I must admit that I was thinking of completing the quest and then slaying them to get the axe back, if that's at all possible.

Recommendations? Please advise. Thanks.

Sorry, i can't answer all your questions. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />
But note: If the Ork stands behind the red line, he "can't find" the "test victim". Try to entice him into his "standard room" (green circle).

Well, yes you do get XP...but no speels or skills or anything.
Is it too far back to re-laod?
Maybe try hitting him??? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Though i would really save before that! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Though you are a warrior - use a spell like cloud of pioson or something like that, an area spell. Then, yes you can kill them.

Question: have you given him axes earlier? If you have, thidsmight be the problem. Othewise i suggest, if you can, reload and do it again. But then again it isnt that big of a deal. it is good exp in the early stage of the game.

ELB, have you got your zombie helper? He will attack and I'm sure, the orcs will scatter then, leaving more room for the orc chief.

I'm afraid that I appear to be out of luck.

Yes, I did get the zombie helper, and he is long gone.

The orcs are all stuck along the southern wall, East of where they need to be with the exception of two crossbowmen. When I give the large orc Slasher, he walks very near one of the crossbowmen, but never turns and thwacks him with it. The quest, for me, is broken.

And there appears to be no way to "bring" them across the green line helpfully drawn in one of the replies above. Because there is no way to make them move, or even to attack them, not that you could complete the quest that way.

No, it seems like I must either re-do it all, or leave it behind. Redoing it means every quest up until George's murder/leaving town. That's a fair amount of time in my book.

I am sure getting the additional XP would be nice, but no certain it's worth re-doing everything just for that.

My only other thought was that some kind of telekinesis power, and I think mages have one, could do it. And the only way I could get that is to cheat.

Would it be possible to cheat just to fix this, and then revert back? Is it possible to cheat just to give myself the XP I would have earned? How much is it? I don't like cheating, as I believe it ruins the game, but that would be only fair. In any case, the overall impact on the game is probably quite low.

Thanks for all the help thus far.

You could use iZakaroN's SaveEditor to boost your experience points; the amount you get is dependent on your character level (you get more for solving quests at higher levels). However, this experience is negligible in the course of the game. You could easily compensate by Resurrecting a few monsters, running/teleporting away so they turn hostile, returning and killing them again.

If the other orcs are named, you may be able to change their position with part of the procedure in Reviving dead NPCs.
