I am playing a warrior and things are going well so far. I just hit level 10 and have read some guides and opinions, but I have a few skills in particular that I am interested in, so I'd like some opinions.

1. The importance of Agility? I don't use bows and don't intend to, so is the offense/defense worth boosting it substantially. So far, my stats are approximately 38 Str, 25 Agil, 10 Magic, 20 Sta. Is it worth it to keep bumping up Agility for the offense/defense when using melee weapons and a shield?

2. Skills thus far: augment damage, sword expertise, augment damage, repair, restoration (free), deadly gift, enchant weapon and poison weapon. I just took poison weapon. I was interested in it, and it seems to be working beautifully. Please let me know if it continues to do so.

3. Also on poison weapon? Can you select which of the poisons from your inventory you use? I have both minor and regular thus far, and the one time I used it, it defaulted to regular. Will it always select the most potent? I'd like to be able to select, if possible, as I can with the traps/deadly gift.

4. For a little ranged capability, I was thinking about the mage's lightning? Good idea or not? Since I am not going to raise mana much, if at all (beyond any item bonuses and charms), can I afford it? Is there a better ranged magic attack worth taking? Opinions?

5. Wondering if the mage's shield is worth the extra defense?

6. Is spiritual defense (magic bumping of resistances) worth it?

Thanks in advance,

ELB

Check out the listed percentage to hit and be hit for your offense / defense (this is also dependent on your level). Personally I would get my agility up sooner if I started a new game, even with a melee character. If you start hearing 'swish, swish, whack, swish, swish...' when you attack, it is time to increase your agility. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
differences between classes (secondary stats)

Monster resistances tend to get higher towards the end of the game, but Poison Weapon should be useful for some time, though I never tried it. I also did not max Know Creature, so am not familiar with which monsters are particularly weak or strong against poison. I found Stun to be handy, though having any two of Frost on a weapon, Stun on a weapon or the passive Stun skill can cause problems (enemies can hang mid air, not completing their death animation). DAD found that in this case an area effect spell that does not need a target, like Hell Spikes, can finish them off.

I found Spell Shield and Aura of Guarding to be quite useful in the middle of the game, though I bought spell books rather than put skill points into them. Kistandalius or Blake in Ars Magicana and Corinna or Mpenzak in Verdistis sell spell books.

I maxed the resistance boosting skill, though might not have done so if I was short on skill points. Warriors tend to have lots of spare skill points, so you do not have to worry about picking the best possible choice with each one.
