Hi Thanatos(...Death),
I'm in the process of building a new character and wanted to try to make him paladin style. I'm wondering if there are any issues with building up all the elemental melee skills. i.e. no problem with them stacking together, etc.
No, not really. No problem with stacking together. There are some broken skills in the game though.
Initial thoughts are to max out swords, aug dmg/defense, spirit damage, curse and missil reflect. Will work on bless and magical might through spell books. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to use in regards to a holy smite substitute until the divinity tree opens up.
for support skills I'm only going to put 1 in alchemy and 1 in repair. and rely on items for lockpicking.
These seem like good ideas to me. When you say the divinity tree, do you mean that empty space near Path of the Survivor? As for some great weapons, Geoff, has a powerful sword. If you don't like it, you might consider reloading to get a better one. In the beginning, especially if you're playing on hard, get a good bow and use hit-and-run tactics. Engaging in melee at the beginning of the game as a warrior on hard level doesn't seem to be a good idea. There is also the holy weapon you get later in the game and of course, the Sword of the Gods. Even though I don't do this, you may find saving and reloading to be a good way of obtaining powerful weapons. Some players have obtained 1 or 2 skillpoints in repair and have had items with repair on them. By wearing them, their repair skill level is maxed out temporarily and they are able to repair other damaged items without cost. I'm not sure about relying on items for lockpicking. I'd rather just have 5 skill points in lockpicking.
One last thing:
