Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Gettin my [nocando] handed to me early in game

Hi. I'm no newbie to rpgs, but i am getting stomped by the summoner, and some other tuff skeles deep in catacombs. I also can't beat the orcs (slasher quest), or the ones that fight you when you go up certain steps from the catacombs. I am a survivalist/rogue, and using daggers, and bows. that npc zombie that helps, has been long gone, so i am on my own down there. Any tips for me? Thinkin about restarting (bout the 10th time:( ) this time be a fighter maybe. Thanks for any help. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />

Hi Vigilark,

In the beginning, when it comes to combat, it's best to use hit and run tactics where you shoot some arrows, run further when an enemy comes close to you, and then shoot them again. Have plenty of healing potions with you. I remember that as a survivor, I used the skill splitting arrows to deal with all those monsters in the catacombs during the early levels and also with the orcs. Unlike meteorstrike, splitting arrows has a lower casting cost and in the long run can't be resisted by any monster. Plus, it even does more damage.

Btw: you dont have too, and you better wouldnt either, beat the orcs in the catacombs. Except maybe after you've given him slasher.

some of them can be very hard, I reccomend a bow, hit and run tactics. or meteorstrike.
if your playin' on hard, thats too hard.

not really...first you should get slasher wave it around in front of their faces and say "YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!!!" in a very taunting voice and the unleash a maelstrom of arrows. It works and then you also have slasher.

You can keep slasher anyway. Just go somewhere drop it, go back and they see you have it. Quest done and you still have slasher. tested this with selling it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

As a survivor, I used the mage's freeze spell a lot! I'd freeze, back up, and shoot with my bow. When it comes to those crazy skeleton lords, though, I used meteor strike

Later (waaaaay after the catacombs) I just picked up a big sword ;-)
