Hi, I finally grew the balls to take my level 22 mage to the Cursed Abbey. Things were going alright, kill a zombie here, kill a zombie there. Than it became tough. I journeyed further in, and got swarmed by steel skeletons! My elemental spells did nothing, not even slow these wretched horrors down. My weapon that does 10 - 32 damage is worthless against such creatures. I have about 188hp, and have the possibility of having 388hp if I put my two silver vitality charms into these gold gloves which are pretty good. This one huge steel skeleton came by and whipped me good. It was a shocker. What should I do in order to defeat these guys? Should I invest some skill points into Deadly Discs? Should I put the silver charms in the gloves to buff up my characters hp? I have six stat points left, should I use five of those to bump up my characters strength to 40 (reason being I have a two handed sword that applies 46 - 75 damage, poison damage (3), frost damage (4), +80 Vitality, and so on), or should I skip this part of the game completely and come back at another time? Also, I have a hard time determing what my stat points for a mage should be at my current level: My stats are 53 Intelligence, 35 Strength, 30 Agillity, 35 Constitution. Well, if there are some physical skills a mage can use to inflict good damage on steel skeletons / it would also be a good skill to carry along for the rest of the game, just not in this one area. Well, someone hit me up with some good advice for this part of the game. Thanks.

Lightning on steel skeletons - have minus 11 (?) lightning res.
Meteorstrike on liches. They have minus 31 fire res.

This was my method. Know Creature/survivor skill, lvl 5 = shows all resistances (and therefore weaknesses )

Did the same - lightning strike. And if you press the mouse button realy fast, you can have a constant blast of lightning. What can also help is the Wall spell of the mage, where you summon 4 of 5 skeletons, these guys will distract the steel skeletons, while you can kill them from a distance.

Hi RPGame,

Some tips:
*Aura of Guarding and Spellshield are helpful spells at this stage in the game, especially when you have low hitpoints.
*Invest some points in enchant weapon. When it comes to charms, use them wisely. Once you enchant an item with a charm, you can't take it out.
*For the long run, consider investing some skill points in spells that cannot be resisted: Hell Spikes, Deadly Disks, Splitting Arrows, Curse, Blind, Skeletal Wall, and Limbs of Lead. Hell Spikes, Deadly Disks, and Splitting Arrows do a lot of damage. The other spells mentioned do a great job of weakening the enemy. I should say that at this point in the game, most monsters you encounter will be vulnerable to fire, lightning, poison, or spiritual damage but you'll encounter monsters and bosses later that are highly or totally resistant to these forms of damage.
*Make sure you have a lot of restoration potions or healing potions with you.
*If you're not sure about where to put a stat point, save it until you feel you need it most. My impression is that right now at this point in the game, you may need to invest a little more in strength so that later you'll be able to carry better equipment.
* Kaan's Mage Guide
Thanks.

The best solution for killing those steal creatures is meteor shower... It't best to have level 4 or 5
Thrust me... it works... It happend to me too but with meteor shower i finished Cursed Abby in 20 minutes

Hi barla_cosmin,

I don't think there's a spell called meteor shower in Divine Divinity. You were probably referring to elemental hail.

Thanks.

There is no casting delay for MeteorStrike, so if you right click fast enough, you get a MeteorShower.

Is know creature / survival skill really worth maxing out. Also, in order to terminate them quickly with lightning, should I only invest one or two points? or would spells like lightning, elementail hail, etc. be worthless against the characters who are immune in the future of the game that you speak of... or even worth maxing out... I want to plan for the future and not be screwed over because I selected a few wrong skills, games like this always get me nervous. Would a skill like Deadly Discs be wise to put some points into for those bosses who have high elemental resistances... Hmm... (Random) After I expose Dr. Elerath as the cause for the plauge, aren't the healers like Joram supposed to return to Aleroth because I completed the whole quest, because they haven't yet, and I am wondering when they return because don't I need to speak to the lizard for his scroll.... Well get back to me when you can.

I like Elemental hail - i used it right to the end...even on the dragons...good skill, not a waste at all!
The healers move to the town after you have completed the "Escort for the Healers" quest, that Seth gave you. Only then will they show up.
You will need to go to the barracks and find the General (the female one...) she will then send the escort.

Know Creature is only really useful if you max it out, and is handy if you are a mage.
Even with higher resistances, elemental damage spells can be preceded with a couple casts of survivor's Curse (even level 1 is effective, since the effect stacks).
Check out the Locus Inn's Skill System information on the damage done per mana spent, to see if it is worth maxing certain skills.
Mage spell books can be bought, check with Kistandalius or Blake in Ars Magicana and Corinna or Mpenzak in Verdistis.
Deadly Disks / Hell Spikes do physical damage, so can not be resisted. They are also area effect spells that do not need a target, so are effective even if you have been blinded (Josephine) or if you need some mob control.
The healers stay in the inn; Aleroth is abandoned.

My favorite strategy for large groups of enemies (and worked fairly well at the abbey) is Burning Wall. Find a chokepoint and overlay the walls close to each other. That way the enemies need to pass through at least two sides to reach you. The entrance is great for this.

Some enemies don't take much damage from this tactic but if you multiply that across 5 or 6 enemies, the mana to damage ratio is great!

A downside is that it takes some practice to use effectivly, but when you get the hang of it, the spell works wonders. I am playing a warrior, but I use Burning wall to thin the crowd before hacking my way though. It saved me on more than one occation, and it made the abbey a breeze. However, its not too effective agianst single enemies.

Also, you really don't see how effective the wall is until you hit level 3 in it. I spent a point in it and first thought it was useless. Then over time I found items that upped it. Now I am in love with the spell.

Thanks for the help everyone. I have 15 open skills, so I think I am going to put a few into Deadly Discs and one or two in lightning. I like the way how it can't be resisted. I'm also gonna go with elemental hail too... hehe... Anyhow, I did the escort quest, and I still can't find them, after you expose Dr. Elerath, and do the escort quest, where should they be? In the inn, The Blue Boar, Drawven Bread Inn, if so, I've been to both recently, and still can't find them.

If you reported to Alix = Blue Boar Inn, Otho/Goemoe in the east rooms - Joram at the bar - Lanilor in the NW room.
