Here is the deal, I was playing SOF II Double Helix (very nice graphix ) last night all over sudden my screen whent black with rainbow colored stripes through it, and it locked up. So I turned it off and on again thinking that my overheating protection kicked in and shut off my CPU automatically, but when I turned it on three things happened: 1)all the lights (motherboard/cpu) and fans turned on. 2)my monitor reads-no signal as if its not hooked up to my vid card. 3)my comp begins to beep in 1 second intervals and doesn't stop. WTF ????? I thought I burned out my vid card, took it out and restarted same thing!!!! I am taking it in (the comp), but I thought I would ask you guys for your evaluations of the situation.

Change of Video Card for test, and test your video card in other computer, try to see if everything ok with your memories and your processor, when this happens you can't turned off the pc, my advice is: try ctrl+alt+del or reset, if don't work you use the power buttom.
Try use other video card on your motherboard. If don't work you can ask again for help.

Try using a boot disc and going in through safe mode. I had that problem on *someone's* XP machine playing SOF 2 before awhile ago, it seems like a tv alert screen gone bad, with horizontal rainbow bars. For the life of me though, that was quite awhile ago while I was at school, so I cannot really remember what I did to fix that. I'm pretty sure its the same thing, you don't happen to have a illegit copy do you or a bogus reg key? I seem to think that that was why it happened on this other computer or it could have been another program (like Norton doing auto update) running in the background and somehow interfering with it. But I never had the problem with it not turning on or not recognizing the monitor, or beeping for that matter, just the rainbows.

Thanks for your input, but I think the problem lies in the hardware, I just hope I didnt fry anythning. Unfortunately its not the same problem faile had, its much worse than that. Its really frustrating when you cant even boot up!!!!! Thanks again for help.

Yes, to me this sounds like a hardware problem, too.
I only fear that something has already burnt through (is this the right term ) - I mean becoming to hot - burning - ashes.
Seriously, I'd suggest asking the shop where you have bought the PC for assistance.

Sounds familier. I had this once too. The solution was quite not that funny: my motherboard was broken. Some connections melted down . I hope thats not the case with you. Maybe try this: open your comp and let it cool of for a few hours (maybe night). I had a broken cooling of my cpu once and had to open my case to run the comp (to get enough cooling).

*scratches head* I had it... one... two... three... four times. Turn off your computer. Unscrew it and take out the small round battery in your mother board. Wait 5 minutes. Put it back. Turn computer on. Good luck.

Sorry i was offline, but i think what jurak said is more probabily, try this:
take out your memory and your video card, use a blank eraser and pass it on the circuits what you put in the slots(yellow part), after this put your video card back, don't take off your batery or you'll have to configure your setup again, and try to change the slot of the memory.

That's the whole f***ing problem, goddamn it! Hey Death this depend of who is making the repair, this isn't a problem to me, but can be a big problem to other people, if you have knowledge enough take it off, but in this case i don't think his problem will be solved, and more if you get the batery on the wrong way you can retire more than 1/2 of it life. Cause of this i prefer to change the jump what is referent to the batery on the motherboard, if you know how to take out the batery, no problem.

Alright. But if nothing else works, take out the battery. It worked for me many times on both computers and I don't see why it shouldn't work on his. As for inserting the battery the wrong way, I don't think he's an idiot who cannot see the difference between the two sides. One of them sides has writing on it.

The problem isn't in insert the battery on the wrong way, and in you get the battery in the wrong way with your hands. I always worked reparing computers, this problem to me never solved taking out the battery.

Those batteries never were expensive, were they? It solved problems by resetting the motherboard settings.

They're not expensive, but if you know how to get it with your hands isn't a problem, if you don't know you can buy another.
See the manual of the motherboard for the localization of the jumper of batery.
