Playing the game right now and I've postponed going to Stormfist castle until I've upped my stats a bit. Anyhow I was on wandering around the forest trying to find info on what happen to that merchant's cart. I encountered some Orcs which I defeated.

Feeling good about myself I decided to explore the rest of the forest area wiping out orcs along the way. I eventually managed to wipe out most of the orcs in the area of the orc portal all the way west. (mostly).

Thing is this wasn't part of any quest I was asked to undertake and I'm concerned that by doing this I will screw up some quest in the future. For example I did meet some orc who wasn't an orc but a spy who talked about an orc camp he had to tell the commander about. After wiping out most of the orcs and going back to the barracks; this was never even mentioned.

Should I go back to a saved game I have before all this carnage took place; or are the orcs just there to be used as canon fodder to up your stats?

I already did the quests to poison the orc water supply and take out the orc train earlier in the game.

TIA

I don't think that ORc has to do with anything. I don't remeber it being as such anyway.

He's an Easter Egg, but I can't remeber from where. Don't worry about him.

AFAIK, you havent busted any quest yet. And i dont see any possiblility to that either. The orcs have to die anyway .

There was a piece of paper under a stone before the entrance to that platform south of the Barracks.
I picked it up and read it before that morphed Orc show up.
I also had true view and good sight range, which helped a lot on that platform.
Any way, that paper had Orcish language inscriptions and I was under the impression that reporting it to Mitox or General Alex would trigger a quest to gain reputation. Nothing of that sort happened either.
Most probably the paper object it was planned by the graphics department to be used in the story but being short on time some things were screwed up. It could have been an egg, but I fail to see any yellow or even white.

This ominous Orcish note was signed with the name "Grisnak". The orc who had kidnapped the two hobbits (Pippin and M???) in the Lord of the Rings = Easteregg.
Killing/letting the giant orc live has no further meaning for the game.

How does one remember the name of a hobbit in a LOTR novel; right it down; read the novel again; watch the movies or search the web?
Now if one remembers the name of such a hobbit how can she/ he not forget it again?
Moreover, a name as simple as Meriadoc Brandybuck!
It is too simple to remember.
If it had been as cumbersome and clueless as Bobbit or Fofo or Linet the hobbit then there would have been a good excuse to forget them. Sheesh. Muhahahaaaaa.

You cant bust any quests by killing the orcs.

I myself killed each and every orc, before even doing the Mitox quests.

I actually killed every evil thing before completing any quests, and none got broken by that.

Easy to forget - I found LOTR boring, terribly boring, puffed up, bombastic - and did I mention boring? I don't bother my brain by keeping boring details - just in case I didn't mention how boring it was.

Kiya, using the editor to puff up dodge skill, AC, AOG, etc

but u have 2 give it credit for rekindling the interest of people in fantasy-based novels. that's the legacy Tolkien leaves. love for fantasy stories & adventures, without it we have no terry brookes, (name some more authors), dungeons & dragons, Divinity, RRR, ..... etc.

just like without akira kurosawa & his hidden fortress, there's no star wars from george lucas.

no jimi hendrix, no guitar heroes that we have now. & no jurak in purple haze.

no egypt = no concept of zero (zero my hero by lemonheads)
no chinese = no concept of money (opportunity by petshop boys)
no woman = no cry (ask bob marley why is it so)

still, u've a point, kiya. without the movies, i don't think i'll ever read the books. LOTR i mean.
