game tells me to do it...but how the hell do i do it? Im in combat mode and i click on a door or chest and it just tries to open it. i can cast spells on it though but thats kinda dumb and cooldown time, poison doesnt hurt doors, etc. Also, a rogue REALLY should start with at least some lockpicks...seriously...

CTRL + Click to force-attack. There should have been a tutorial popup, which appears under the green diamond with the question mark. If the tutorial doesn't say CTRL + Click, then it should be changed, of course.

The tutorial dungeon has at least four free lockpicks for the taking, including one beside a chest you're told to lockpick.

Click the Alt key periodically to highlight small items like lockpicks. This will be the only way to find anything small in the world. I'm not sure why it isn't capslock, so we can just leave it on all the time. Might be able to bind it to capslock, Stabbey might know. I'm at work, so can't test.
