DAD, ever thought of making a tutorial on 3D object creation & animation?
No, I did not, because even though I have confidence in my experience there are much better professors who are dedicated to that subject. There are very advanced Clifford Algebras for unlimited dimensions and fast computations. You might wish to read some of Pertti Lounesto’s books on that.
Of course there is also Graphics Gems I, II and III by Glassner, Arvo and Kirk respectively and this set of books is like a biblical foundation for any serious computer graphics programmer.
You may wish to read what Donald Hearn and M. Pauline Baker has to say on computer graphics.
But when it comes to advanced animation and rendering techniques as a theory and practice, then Allan Watt and Mark Watt are the brothers of choice.
However, every T3D graphics package that hits the shelves must include some tutorial or at least a web-link to an online tutorial.
Therefore the subject is amply covered but the books wait for the reader.
As for modern game design and particularly RPG, writing on this subject might not sell well.
Game developers need to read the statistics on the user base PC specifications being currently in use to decide the standard; from there it is a matter of applying simple mathematics to find out the boundaries of game design.
A game developer could be extremely knowledgeable and target the existing market and fail to sell, yet another could be simply ambitious and creates a game that pulls up the standards and create a new market.
Kindest regards.
