Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks I die in 1 shot!

No matter what I do anything that hits me I die in one hit and I can usully last and win a fight. I was just fighting a lizard and I died in the first hit! Im not carrying and cursed items. Whats wrong? Please help thanx Ez!

As thought: the resistance bug. This should be solved with the latest patch

It happens with v1.29 (iirc) when you had an item with magicbarrier skill. If you took it of, this could happen.

Thought so: you've got the resistance bug - probably an item with the magic barrier spell and you don't have skill pts of your own.

What version are you playing, please?

IMPORTANT:
Are you playing version 1.29 (no problem with update) or 1.33(big problem with update)?

I dont know what version im playing but ive not installed any patches or anything.

Ok, then you're playing 1.29 - please, backup your saves in a different folder, just to be on the safe side.

Make sure you do a clean install.
Delete the game
defragment
reboot
install CD-ROM (1.029) and then patch 1.34

If you install the 1.34 patch: Shut off all running background programs (Antivir, internet, icq, firewall etc.)and if you're using WinXP or Win 2000, be sure to have admin rights - good luck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Then load one save into this game and play a bit, save. Take off that damn item. If you spend one skill point into magic barrier, these items are safe afterwards.

And yes, I'm overcautious <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

i dont want to make another post so here's my question, im playing 1.29 and so far i didnt have any problem, should i install the patch 1.34 anyway or keep playing 1.29?

Version 1.34 is mainly for quest related problems - let's say, you've refused to touch a certain item when you were asked to. In version 1.29 you've busted the main story plot - in version 1.34 you can ask again for this chance.

Prob is, if you've encountered story probs already, the patch might not help retroactively (correct word now, Raze?)

1.34 fixwes alot of quest bugs. But then you would have to start a new game to get them work. If you dont have problems, i dont see why you should. But it can never hurt <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> Remember: to get the fixes to work, you'll need to start a new game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" />

I just read your former posts, Nemo - can't see story probs in there. I'd update the game if I were you. But backup your old saves somewhere else, just in case.

You won't have the slowdown problem in Verdistis at 1.34, this was pretty annoying and I guess, you haven't done the council quests, right? You'd have at least 2 quick saves = quite handy.

You can't quicksave by accident when you're already dead...

So, I'd update if I were you.

Me too man, i was playing with 1.29 and never used the patch and didn't have problems in the game, just with my video card.

I have tried to install the patch only to be given a screen saying "No Installation Found" "You have to install Divine Divinity version first before installing Divine Divinity - English Patch V1.0"

yeah thanks guys for your quick answers, but i think i'll finish the game before installing the patch, cuz i dont want to lose my warrior (im scared <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> )btw im lvl 27, do u think i can go to the cursed abbey now?
