Hey Guys,

Congratulations on having released the game!

Here comes the irony: the game has been working (for most values of) fine on most of my machines even since alpha, but now (on this machine) it immediately crashes to desktop. laugh

I just installed the game from scratch and the machine is a 64-bit Windows 7 with 8G RAM and an Intel GMA 3100. I would have included a stack trace, but you guys removed the pdbs from the release version so I can't. wink

However I do have some crash dump files for you. They're all about the same event, and I think they'll provide the exact same information, but the more the merrier! Basically there's an invalid memory access performed by some thread.

[edit 1] I just re-tried after removing the "C:\Users\robbe\Documents\Larian Studios" folder; issue remains
[edit 2] Even though I only just downloaded the game, I still did a verification of the game cache; no irregularities found, issue remains

Could you send us a report.zip from our support tool? While we appreciate the crash dump files, this report would help us a lot more in order to fix the issue.

More irony: the tool just crashed. laugh (When generating the report.)
When I run the tests, it complains about the GPU, perhaps unsurprisingly so.
No other failures or warnings are shown.

[edit 1]: I'll check out the BIOS settings for the GPU RAM etc. later today, when I find the time to reboot this thing.

Tried with the most recent update as of writing, but the problem still remains. While still lacking any symbols, the stack trace does show that the invalid memory access is triggered by a call to free() (shown below). I also re-downloaded and re-ran the analysis tool but that one still crashes as well, so I figure you guys didn't find the time yet to catch that file-not-found exception wink.

I'll take a look at the BIOS settings soon-ish.
If someone could put a vanilla configuration folder up somewhere, I can put those files where the analysis tool expects them, and I can send the report to supportdos@larian.com

Fiddled a lot with the available memory settings of the integrated GPU, but to no avail. When I run the game with a discrete GPU, it does work fine, so the problem is highly likely related to the (crappy) GPU. laugh

Please try the following:
- press start , then enter "event viewer" into the input box
- a window will open with "windows logs" on the left upper side, press this
- in this list, original sin or eocapp should be present with an error icon and text next to it, click that
- please provide all information under the "general" section at the bottom of the event viewer (starting with "Faulting application name...")

No need to apologize, I have other machines with less crappy GPUs to play the game on wink ; I'm happy to help isolate a bug that may affect other people.

Meanwhile I have generated a D:OS configuration directory on my laptop, set up the most conservative graphics settings I could, and transferred the files to the problem machine. The game still crashes, but at least the analysis tool doesn't anymore because it can now find the previously missing config files. (Really, just catch that exception! :hihi: )

I'll send an e-mail to supportdos@larian.com later today or tomorrow morning, including the zip file and the windows logs, a link to the dump files and this thread, accompanied by a concise description of the problem.
