My level 11 ranger is a hybrid between Ranger/Geo/Scoundrel. 3 2 1. I know alot of people dislike mixing intel into rangers but in the early game summoning a spider has helped me out greatly with every battle ive been in .But ive started to see alot of overlap between Geo and ranger skills. For Geo spells i use spider, fortify, bless, poison arrow and immune poison. I mainly went geo for the pet and the blessing because chance to hit was perfect at the time. Scoundrel is just for backstabbing. My goal is to drop the spider and keep the earth buffs. My question to the forum is how much intel will i need to avoid penalty's ?

Thanks
-TMK

if your intel is 8, doesn't that make all spells at 100 percent effectiveness therefore no penalties? So if you're building towards an offensive melee build 8 should be enough. is that what you're asking?

Sometimes my spells will "fumble" i guess thats because of my low intel. i was thinking about 8 or 9 intel myself. But yeah if 8 should be enough then ill give it a shot

When you say your spells fumble, are you saying the status effect doesn't apply for skills or when you attack with your main weapon? because increasing your intel beyond 8 would increase the chance of status effects applying VS the enemies willpower/body-building roll of course, but it wouldn't effect your chance of applying with weapons.

Enemy Body Building and Willpower SUBTRACT from your success rate.

So if your base success is 120%, and enemy willpower is 30%, then you have an 90% chance of success.

I would only invest a single point into Int and get the other 2 from gear like the Sangrels or whatever the lower body equipment for wizards is called.

Edit: You might want to invest a single point into Witchcraft as well, just for Oath of Destruction (+50% damage for 3 turns for 3 AP).

You would have to increase your intelligence because the enemies saving throw is superior to your intellingence.

Your ranger will have the highest initiative in basically every fight. Being able to cast Oath with him/her means that you can already take out other range chars instead of delaying your turn and wait till Jahan casts his buff.
