Has anyone complete the lock picking bet? I read that you need lvl 4 lock picking to open all four doors. I read that door to the right requires lvl 5 lock skill. Should I just give up and lose 5000 gold?

If you loose the bet, he teaches you a level of Lockpick, so loosing the 5000 gold is pretty much the same as buying a spell book. Since gold is so plentiful, I'd rather have the skill level.

Especially since you can't buy the Lockpick Skill.

i agree to that. though i cannot resist the gleam of the gold coins & .....

See it as investment on the long term (5000 gp): Lvl 5 allows you to loot, loot, loot. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> (nuts, gold, gems, nuts...)

I teleported out, got myself a couple of levels, raised lockpickskill, teleported back, opend the last door -and won the bet.

Looking back, I'd rather have lost <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> and get the free advance.
