First of all i have read all other posts about this but i have another problem in the same problem, if you understand what i mean.

I am in the council of seven.
When i use my warrior and strike the gong, it works fine! No crashes at all. I get to see the movie and get to the next area.
Then i load up with my survivor, and strike the gong. The game crashes.
What's up with this? Is the game with my survivor so messed up that i can't continue playing? If someone knows a solution for this. Please help. Thanks!

Do you have two characters on the go at the same time (sounds like it), or did you play the warrior awhile ago? Not that it matters; if you didn't make any major changes between the two attempts, the survivor should work also.

Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder. Then start Divinity, load the survivor and try again.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start the game. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem. Maybe something from the warrior's game got left behind, and is interfering with the survivor?

Hopefully it is not a problem with the save. Do you have an earlier save with your survivor, from awhile ago but after completing the council? If so, try loading that and see if you can get to the wastelands.

I have this same problem.
I have tried your solution. Deleted everything in the Dynamics folder. Even deleted the extra character.
But it still hangs.
Any other ideas? Pls help!
I'd hate to have to play over again with a warrior! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

Are you using a no-CD hack? There is a video during the blessing that the game expects to find on the CD. Playing that sequence with the CD in should fix that.

Did you try running the configuration program and switching to software or DirectDraw mode, and maybe reducing the resolution?

Is your desktop in 16bit / high colour? I have not had any problems in 32bit / true colour, but the game was designed for 16bit and having the desktop at that setting can fix some issues.

Did you see this section of the Divinity readme file?

Problem: The cinematics do not play well. The cinematics are more like a slide show, block or even exit the
application.
Cause: the Bink player cannot play the movie optimally
Solution:
1) download and install the latest version of the binkw32.dll: www.radgametools.com
2) download and install the latest drivers of your video card
3) on the ATI Radeon cards, setting the monitor refresh rate to 60 Hz solved the issue:
a) right click on your desktop, select properties, settings
b) click the advanced button, and choose monitor
c) set the refresh frequency to 60 Hz, test and apply
4) if nothing helps, prevent the movies to run by deleting all files *.bik from the Static sub folder in Divine Divinity's install directory. You will not be able to see to cinematics, but you will be able to play the game.

Oh I AM using a no-CD hack.
And I've already passed the CD to another friend (3rd party) who also wants to play it.
Crap! Now I can't get past that part till I get the CD back. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />
Oh well...
Anyways, thanks Raze!
Btw... do you know of any no-Movie hack? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" /> I wanna finish this game!

So, you're illegally using a no-CD hack and then giving the CD to someone else who should in fact go buy the game instead of ripping it off if he/she wants to play it - and then you come to Larian's site looking for help - sheesh - what nerve!

yup, that's like admitting that you're dealing in illegal games

At this point i dont think anyone should have to pay for this game, i mean honestly, i just bought it, and its UNPLAYABLE, every time i try to load a save game, i'm getting error messages, where DD cant find any of the right save game files.

I wish i would have tried a no-cd hacked version of it before paying for the game.
