Now this is a sign of a good game, when the price, eight months later, is higher than the price at release. I originally bought Divine Divinity at Electronics Boutique for AU$67. It's now AU$70. It's not much of a rise, but still, most things go down after eight months!

It just means EB is trying real hard to screw people over, at least the EB games stores in your area, I see it here at EB games for a mere 29.99$ canadian.

In France there is a new edition of Divinity for 19 euro.
But someone said that for this price there is no manual !
I don't want to talk again about publishers and i keep my thoughts for myself.

Ah, another "prices thread" had popped up again.

Originally, costed in Germany 45 Euro (in German the plural form of "Euro" is "Euro" NOT "Euros" ) , but now it costs 29.99 Euro here.

When you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it.

As of today, the exchange rates are roughly

AU$1.00 = US$0.70 = EU$0.60
AU$1.40 = US$1.00 = EU$0.85
AU$1.65 = US$1.15 = EU$1.00

Most new release PC games are $80-$90 here in any shop. We pay a lot for that sort of stuff. But I take heart in the fact that most other living expenses are cheaper.

Hm, that would be EUR 42.42 in your country (70 AUS divided by 1.65, correct?). I just checked my bill from last year: I paid EUR 45.99, fresh after the release, German version.

That's right, or $70 x 0.6 = $42

So perhaps prices here aren't all that bad after all?

Depends on, HEF - I haven't got all bills from my games, I just happened to have the Div one - after the EUR was initiated in Europe, game prices went up steeply in Germany. Average price previous to EUR was 30-40 EUR(60-80 DM), now you rarely find a new game under 40 EUR (fresh after release, prices go down after a while, but if I'm interested, I can't wait).
Kiya
TOEE, Engl. version = 39.53 EUR via amazon
NWN = 49.90
NWN addon = 29.95
Syberia, budget = 19.99
Gothic 1 budget = 10
BG 2 = 45 (EUR, bought in DM, so double the price)
IWD = 30 (EUR, but bought in DM that time, double it)

enough numbers to compare?

That looks about right after translating into Australian prices. Our budget games don't go down that quickly though. You can get them for AU$10, but it takes about four to five years.

Ah, I just bought those 2 budget games because I had lent my games and didn't get them back - hoarding heart, remember? Prob is, I don't have a box and paper manual, I hate this about budgets. I need a box to feel happy

Gothic 1 is old, German release in 2001.
Update:
NWN was 52.99 in the 2nd shop, my first CD was defect and I had to go to another trader. This is robbery!
