I have stored some of my excess inventory in a chest & barrel in my basement bedroom in Aleroth. So far it has remained safe.
I am about to leave Aleroth and am wondering if my goodies will remain safe.

Should I leave my "stone" here so I can return quickly?
Or will I need it in other places outside of Aleroth?

Thanks

Your things will be fine there. And I would leave your stone there at least until you arrange for the escort for the healers. Otho is the only one you will find for awhile that repairs. And it will also be a little bit before you find more merchants to sell things at. Plus you can rest there.

I could have been very happy not knowing that. "Game over, man! Game over!"

Just so you know.Don't I sound like a mother hen HA,HA.There is a book of holding in the theives quild[it holds the artifact the Dagger]Don't leave it after picking up the dagger.
It will hold lots of stuff without the weight penatly[it weighs a whole lot less than a chest or barrel by about a 100lbs.]You can put lots of stuff in it .

Do items disappear when placed on the ground?

I have this nasty habit of leaving stuff I might need later on the ground .

No they don't disappear; you can safely leave items wherever you want, and they will still be there when you go back.

EDIT: Do not take over Malcolm's house in Verdistis before you expose him; when he is arrested and the house locked up, any items inside will be removed. Be careful of renting rooms; if you miss a payment, the room will be locked and the items inside unavailable until you re-rent the room.

I have that, MaryJo. And I think the patch fixed that as it does alter weight when I place things in it, or maybe that is just me. I keep my portable bed and my immense key collection in it now.

Wow, this place sure is a mine of information. I'm trying to remember everything I learn for when I start the game again!

Thanks everyone for being so knowledgeable and helpful too

In a house by the river, north of the cursed Abby.

You do not need to go through the Abby to get to the house with the portable bed (there is only one in the game). If you head north east keeping to the southern bank of the river as much as possible, you will avoid many of the undead in the area (a bow or ranged magical attacks would help).

would a high spiritual resistance help me through the abbey?

Spiritual and poison resistance would both be good for going through the Abby. Spellshield would help as well (spell books can be bought from Kistandalius or Blake in Ars Magicana and Corinna or Mpenzak in Verdistis). Level 13 is a little low (I had no problem at about level 20), but if you save first, you can try anything.

Ars Magicana is a town further in the farmlands (the transporter is named that way) and Verdistis is another town. you can find it in the upper right corner of the farmlands
