Why Did You decide to play this game? Out of the Hundreds of Games to choose from?

I never took the time to play games. Was to busy, running here and there and keeping up with a classroom full of 5/6 yr olds! Was told I could never have children of my own. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> 4 months ago, I got sicker than a dog. Thought I had some weird Flu! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" /> Went to the Doctors to find out what was wrong. And the Doc tells me " Angel, you are pregnant!" After all this time and 3 misscarriages, I was stunned! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> Doc put me on immediate bedrest <House Arrest>. After driving everyone within hearing distance crazy with my complaining on how BORED I was. My Sis got me a computer and a stack of games. The games were so unfull filling, spent more money on ones everyone suggested. Ended up with a bigger pile of games I will never play again. I went <sneaked> out and got <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />, mainly because I like the story plot. Plus, I loved the Angel on the front and I do collect Angels. I have 64 Angel pictures, statues, you name it, I have it. But I do know now that it was not an angel on the cover but the Divine One.

So Anyone have a story to tell about how they decided on Divine Divinity for a game to play? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Mine is just boring, LostAngel: I had waited several years for Lady, Mage and Knight to come out - then it was stopped - but the team was reorganised as the Larians and I read a preview about Div = was comforted and bought it. The pics I saw reminded me of my first RPG love: Ultima 7 - and when I started it, I felt like coming home.

Saw a small review in a magazine.

Got a demo on a cover disc.

Got absolutely sucked in by the atmosphere.

Bolted between various modes of public transport to get to the shopping centre after work before close.

Played game persistantly.

Get sucked into this forum by the game tip.

Lost save game in a hard-drive reformat.

Downloaded patch and played again.

Awaiting Beyond Divinity...

@ Kiya, This is my first RPG and I'm in love!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

@ HandEFood, I just had to sneek out of the house and get back before anyone noticed, so they would not yell at me for driving by myself!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

@ Lews, I didn't come here till after I played all 6 on normal. Now I'm trying hard. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Welcome Angel <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I should warn you that this place is habit forming. Most of us finished DD ages ago but we are still here.

I read a review of DD in a magazine and loved the sound of it. I was impressed with how it played. It reminded me of Ultima also <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

P.S:
Get Knights of the Old Republic after you get bored with DD, I just solved it and it is fantastic!!

Well like most people I loved the game Diablo 2.
Then Got myself a computer magazine with some demos, on the cover of the demo said, Divine Divinity a huge Diablo 2 Killer!!!
Didn't really believe that could be acomplished so I tried the game.
I've been playing the game since and never play diablo 2 again!!

The Lost Angel has Found a New Game ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Hello, my story is partly like Kiya's , with the exception that I was a member at the long gone LMK Forums.

Heard about it years ago on an other forum that was run by a "lady from Neverwinter" during the Baldur's Gate days, had alook at the original div site, even became a member of the forum for a week or so untill I got sucked in to BGII and eventually I got a demo on a mag cover, played it (remember something about a market place) was not really impressed (Understand that at the time I was totally immersed in BGII and the various ways of manipulating the game with help from TeamBG) then NWN happened, shortly followed by SoU, the last was not quite as good as I expected, then ..... oneday the picture from the 'Divine One' popped up on to my desktop (have something like 4000 fantasy jpg's in my collection) and I thought, yeah why not so I ordered it, played it and loved it, oh and found this forum, finished the game twice once on normal once on hard both with Warrior class, as you seem to end up with a warrior type anyway, even if you start as a mage by the end you are a fighter/mage <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />.

Yeah well that's my story and I am sticking to it, meantime I play HotU which is way better than it's predecessor and wait for <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

My family are all gamers too, though my mum prefers games like Heroes of Might and magic <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My dad is a lost cause, patience is his limit <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

The rest of us are roleplayers to the core <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I bought it because it has a goofy name. I keep playing it because the bad English (which really went south when I installed the latest patch) makes me laugh.

I really hope you ordered the expansions as well, Tales of the Sword Coast for BG1 and Throne of Bhaal for BG2. At least Throne of Bhaal since it ends the story. Not playing Throne of Bhaal would be like watching Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers but not Return of the King.

I saw a ad in 1 of my gaming mags. Then I downloaded the demo. Joined the forum. Waited another month or so for the game to get here. Whined the whole time btw. Ask anybody! I have been here ever since! Home away from home! I am currently on my 6th runthrough! Fighter/Mage.(axe)

Reminds me of D2 : The names of monsters and weapons often sound ridiculous in German ears, because there the affix/prefix-System doesn't work like in the English language.

I have often benn laughing about that ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Unfortunately it's quite difficult to translate them into English, because in the English language they sound - quite normal, due to slightly different grammar.

Recently I found a monster whose name I would translate as "Steel-Grinner", which reminded me of a famous evil person in one of the James Bond movies. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />I didn't buy my game at first(those, who should know, know why), but then, when I saw that the game-maps are not dynamically loaded, I realised, that all of the stuff was actually drawn from the scratch, and - whoooooosh, bought it. Have three copies for each of me* now, play quite randomly, maybe because already have altogether finished the game on each level and with each character at least twice. I desperately await RRR (aka BD), I adore the little fankit they handed out, I just can't bear it. Though I do realise as well, that the original unexpectedness of the game content will not arise this time....
