I believed to hint about "lava is not affected by spells" - until I accidentally used Tornado on it. That removed lava quite fast.

Does it work as intended? Then maybe I misunderstood given hint...

Yes, it works like intended. Not sure it works everywhere, but it works where you need it (Hiberheim e.g.). Some game hints are a bit misleading.

There are some places where the lava seems to be part of the background, but yet in general Tornados can remove it. I am pretty sure it is intended since laa is a surface effect and tornado is supposed to remove surface effects.

Only as a side note - Tornado clears air effects as well. Which makes it a quite useful combat spell to clear smokescreens for rangers or poison clouds to spend the last few action points on "blind".
