oh please, do not even think of making another diablo clone.

I played Diablo I & II a lot (and I with "a lot" I really mean "a lot").

Divinity is no Diablo and never will and should be.

Divinity has so much more potential than his little hack&slay brother. Diablo is in one way better than Div: it is very well balanced because it was tuned for one single purpose: slay monsters for experience and better equipment, slay bigger monsters for more experience and more equipment, slay even bigger monsters for even more experience and even more equipment, and so on... WHAT A SILLY WASTE OF TIME !!

well, yesterday i was level what ? 20, now i am 33 lol, anyway to just wanted to add that Divine divinity is indeed in many ways different then diablo, better in 'game quality' so to speak, but really, what would be wrong with putting more effort in the skills list and 'special' weapons or armor equipment.

Asto multiplayer, it would be nice, but that is up to the makers.

Asto Diablo2: you are pretty mistaken, diablo2 was THE game of this genre till now, and if you were good at it, which was EXTREMELY hard, u would get elite items that very very few could ever get in touch with, or create chars that were beyond divine, for pvp for instance. And not the mention the markettrading that went on FOR REAL !!! there were even people selling these so called ultra rare items for real money; can you belief that ?? just to demonstrate how furiously they were wanted.

Actually i broke my diablo2 cd into pieces for TWO reason; i got a bit bored after playing it well over 1/2 a year intensely and having collected most of the 'Elite ultra rare items' !! and two, i played it so much and so intensely that i felt my life was being neglected <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Wow, there's so much wrong with that paragraph, I'm amazed. I'm not picking on you, I'm just a little floored by your praise of a game you admit you got bored by.

Getting good at Diablo 2: Hah. The reason so many builds were called "cookie cutter" was because they worked so well, everybody made them. S/S Berserk barbs. Multishot amazons. Nova sorceresses. They work so well in easy experience areas (cow level, bloody foothills) that all you had to do to become "good" (i.e., high level) was to milk these rich veins of exp.

Getting loot in Diablo 2: Double hah. There's a reason they call them 'Meph runz' or 'Pindle runz'. Kill the same, easy to slay monster over and over and hope for big cash prizes to fall out. People push over the same soft target repeatedly, letting the lottery be their guide. The most elite treasure had a % chance of falling out of monsters, and certain monsters gave you better odds. Gear up a character with magic find loot, and keep slaying until you either got the item, or got enough tradeable items to get it.

The market: Dupes. Dupes ruined the economy. The whole reason Diablo 2 was fun was generating good rare items; the uniques were interesting, but not viable. Once uniques surpassed even the best rare, there was no reason to use anything but these uniques. The best of them were duplicated in cheats to flood the market, and there went the economy. That people were paying actual money for a few bits and bytes of information just goes to show you that a fool and his money are soon parted.

Obsessive compulsive mining behavior is not the hallmark of excellence. It's a sad statement on how little it takes to get people to enjoy something.

You will rue the day you opposed me! Begin your rueing! I'll just... sit over here... and watch.

your right.

the dupes are the main reason i stopped playing the game!!
i was pretty good at it, but then everyone started duping and then it wasn't difficult to be good anymore <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

When you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it.

duplicated items.

look: in d2 there were very rare and good items.
but on 1 day, "hackers"found out a way to duplicate them, which lead to greatly decrease in value because all good items were "duped"..
1 other side effect was that the duped items dissapear after a while, so just when you think you have bought a good item, if you wake up the next day it is gone.
trust me, you wouldn't like that..

This paragraph makes Jesus kill innocent kittens, makes a benevolent saint murder newborn babies, makes a happy man in a fine autumn morning slit his wrist, and makes dragons turn vegetarians. All in the name of lost faith in humanity.

It, most of all, made me laugh my head off. And I died. I'm typing this from the afterlife.

For real inter-player economy, kindly venture into the Bazaar zone in EverQuest. Witness as people try to cut each other's price and spam their heads off in hope to sell their items. Behold as people quarrel over phat lewtz and guilds break because of this. Gape at how much time you have to devote to this game to attend, or host, a raid in order to get said phat lewtz (gather 35 players, spend at least five hours for preparation alone). Hacking rarely happens, and if you do try, your account gets suspended. Most of the time, hacking is impossible. Oh -- and do a search on EBay. Count the number of EQ accounts for sale.

Diablo, in the aspects that you have selected to mention in order to make yourself look "elite" or "skilled", is a sad joke. Thanks for the laugh, though.

I remember a few years (months?) back, when Larian was still in Gentbrugge, I came for a visit at the studios and Lar showed me an early version of Div. I remember we were talking about Multiplayer at a certain moment and altough they weren't sure yet, they thought multiplayer wasn't going to make it in by the release. Pretty clear it didn't make it by far, but Lar told me some ideas they had then for a possible expansion to Divinity that would bring multiplayer. Actually his ideas very much resembled NWN at the time: an editor to make your own campaigns and then just a co-operative formula. Wouldn't be a bad idea if you ask me... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

From far, from eve and morning and yon twelve-winded sky, the stuff of life to knit me blew hither: here am I. Now -for a breath I tarry nor yet disperse apart- take my hand quick and tell me, what have you in your heart.

I like having One RPG out there that has no multiplayer aspect. BG2 has it, Arcanum has it, ect. I like having a game that allows me to sit down, and play by myself. Maybe I am just wierd... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" />
