While loading Luculla Forest from a quick save, shortly after the half way point, the game completely freezes for a short time then crashes to the desktop. I have 2 quick saves and the same thing happens when I load the second save. Is it possible that both of the save games got corrupted at the same time?

Not to say I'm glad you have this happen to you but I'm glad more and more of these threads pop up because I have a similar or even the same issue. I've read a couple of reports about corrupted saves now and all of them seem to have one thing in common: Luculla Forest. This gives me new hope that it can be fixed and our files can hopefully be saved.

I think you might have "Alfie" quest bug, if you rescue him it crashes next time you try to travel to Luculla Forest.

There's a work around, if you let him die it seems to be okay (no crashes)

Unfortunately not, or at least not for me. The first time around we rescued Alfie and his owners, saved soon after, loaded the save on the next day and it was corrupted. We then loaded an older save, repeated the quest, failed to save Alfie and his (male) owner, saved anyway soon after and the next day the file was corrupted, too.

But if the quest is really the reason for this, do you think it can be patched in a way that makes our files work again?

That this game-breaking bug is still in the game after all these months since the original release and even made it to the Enhanced Edition is not acceptable, Larian!!!

Fix this ASAP!

^ Yeah, fixing this should be moved up a notch or two on Larian's to-do list. It should be among the top priorities because this really is one hell of a nasty bug.

We rescued Alfie several days ago and have had no issues with quick or regular saving and loading. We've been back and forth and all over the place since.

I'm having the same problem on the PS4 version, trying to load any of my saves in Luculla Forest crash the game. I never completed the Alfie quest, it was still in my log when this happened. The only saves I can load are from before I started doing anything in Luculla Forest other than the part that led to Hiberheim.

Hm, maybe it's not the Alfie quest alone but something different in Luculla. Whatever it is, it destroyed several savegames from mine just right after I rescued Alfie. Different savegames from right before that work perfectly, so it has to be somehow connected to at least Silverglen...

Surely this can be easily reproduced and tested by Larian. They have all the tools to get to Luculla with a press of a button. Just teleport to Luculla, save, get the Alfie quest, save again. Close the game, load both save files and see what happens. Much easier and faster than to have us play until we get there regularly.

And I don't want to come across as impatient but I find Larian's lack of communication on this board a bit ... irritating. I get that they are busy working on D:OS 2 and hopefully patches for EE but acknowledging bugs and reassuring people that they are working on fixing issues from time to time would be great. Unless I just didn't see them doing that.

Can you please tell me if this works for you now? We found out it actually had to do with the destruction visual of "troll dropping". So yeah. "Shit," literally... frown

I've overwritten my old quicksave games in the meantime, so I don't know for sure whether the "real" issue was fixed. But I reloaded an old savegame from just before I rescued Alfie with a blood stone and so I escorted him again to Silverglen, trying to recreate the bug. But this time my savegames right after that quest in Luculla Forest aren't corrupted so I hope it's fixed now.

Could you perhaps elaborate in which scene exactly that troll drop got destroyed and where it is located? I can't remember destroying it tbh.

I think there are several, and if I'm not mistaken there's one on the path that Alfie walks along after you agree to guide them to town, to the right hand side just moments before you-know-what happens.

I'm currently still having this problem.. I don't see any new updates or patches from today if there was supposed to be one. I'm pretty bummed though, I really hope this bug gets priority considering it basically is a game death sentence :/

Has anyone been able to save again after their save is corrupted and enter Luculla Forest without it crashing yet?

I think only the Steam version is fixed so far. A small patch taht also included some other fixes was released today.

It usually takes a bit longer on console to release patches, I'm afraid. But it should come sooner or later to PS4 as well. At least if Larian was aware that it's apparently not a PC-specific bug.

I've gotten a response when I put in a support inquiry that they've fixed it on PC and are working on a patch for PS4 but they have no ETA on when it will be released smirk guess I'll just have to bide my time

They're still working on the patch? Gah, I had hoped they've sent it to Sony/MS for certification days ago. That'll probably be another week of waiting then. On the upside, the patch will likely include more fixes than that.

I have the PC GoG version (latest v.2.0.119.430) and just hit this bug. If I don't go to Silverglen I'm fine, but if I do then it crashes & permanently freezes the game. Did the fix for this bug not make it into the GoG version or is there some easy fix?

Earlier in the game the white cat, Arhu, in Silverglen eventually could not be talked with or even clicked on with him constantly saying, "Psst. Source Hunter. Over here." However, it seemed trivial & I doubt is the cause of the Silverglen crash.

The fix for the troll dropping related crash is in the GOG version of the game.

I'll try your save now, that you emailed to support...
