I knew elevation was going to be incorporated into combat but it didn't really register at the time how it will add to exploration as well. Here is an example from this Gamescon video.

DOS 2 Climbing - Gamescon Footage

I like it. smile

Noticed it first time I saw the video. A really cool feature.

Wow. Climbing is notoriously difficult to implement and have looking correct. Not to mention possibly being a nightmare for scripters. I'm surprised that it's actually in the alpha.

Indeed.

Side note: What I have heard and seen of the music and overall environmental design is <3 <3 <3 <3

I totally agree. A game that makes (good) use of verticality, 9 out 10 times has better exploration than a game that doesn't.

I can assure you guys that elevation gives us a lot of headaches, but at the same time, it's really good gameplay-wise. Really useful smile

I can understand why. But I'm glad you went that way.

Cheers!

Thanks for posting this. In all the previews that I have seen so far the chars either teleported or didn't climb, so I thought there would be no climbing in the game.

Really awesome that this feature is included. Makes games so much more interesting (always loved the climbing part about Gothic 1 and 2, and the hidden stuff only reachable through climbing) and opens up even more modding possibilities.

I hope you understand how much value your animators give to your game!

Yay. I suggested this feature so I'm glad its made it in even if hardly anyone voted for it. I also suggested swimming but that's a whole different kettle of fish.
