I thought the demo, however short it was, was nice. In comparison to Divine Divinity I have a few complaints or what have you:

DoritoOfDeath covered a few of the same ideas I had, which were:

1.) Stamina runs out in about 1 second and you're walking at a snails pace.
2.) Combat is so slow it looks like it's happening in slow motion.
3.) You can't scroll around the map using specified keys (wasd would be nice).
4.) Related to above: Very annoying to have to move mouse cursor to scroll. I found myself hitting wasd (opening automap a lot) trying to scroll around the map.
5.) Selecting and attacking enemies was way easier in Divinity. After setting my characters to aggressive they went off and attacked on their own, but I had some issues getting my main character to attack when on normal mode.
6.) Why can't I bind a key to select all units?

To add to this I have found:

7.) Stamina regains ultra fast, maybe the stamina issues are because we are such low levels? Who knows.
8.) Wish there was a way to select all units by clicking on map and dragging a square around them, sort of like RTS games.
9.) Inventory Screen seems to take up my whole screen on 800x600, so if I want to pick something that normally shouldn't be in inventory, I have to finangle around with inventory screen til it is out of the way.
10.) Can't use CTRL to target closest enemy to cursor? That was huge in Divine.
11.) Perhaps an easier way to transfer items between two players inventories rather than dropping it or dragging to their face, maybe popup a right click menu?
12.) Try turning on capslock, then pressing 'i' for inventory. It seems to only recognize 'i' being pressed if capslock is off.

The biggest pro that I have found is how quick the load/save time is compared to Divine, it used to take 15-20 seconds for me to load/save games, now it seems to be about 5 seconds which is great.

>Can't use CTRL to target closest enemy to cursor? That was huge in Divine

If you hold down the CTRL key, the closest enemy's targetting circle lights up. HOWEVER, when I click it still doesn't seem to work properly. I think some tweaks in this part of the game are in order. It certainly doesn't work anything like as well as it did in Divine Divinity.

In fact, combat is now so frustrating for me that I'm thinking I might give Beyond Divinity a miss, at least until I can be sure that they've fixed that problem in the release or a later patch.

I went back and played DivDiv to compare, and it's chalk and cheese as far as the combat is concerned. Beyond Divinity's combat targeting UI is screwed up. It's so disappointing.

Yeah I've played the demo a couple times through and it seems likes it's off and on when it works and doesn't =(

Also a nice feature would be being able to send your players to a part of the world/map that you have already explored by clicking the position on the automap. Rather than scrolling on screen and finding the spot, selecting it on automap would be much easier.

Combat is very fast on my comp...if I look away for 3-4 seconds the battle is over.
Targeting is OK but it does need some work.

Yes, clicking a place on the map to move there would be excellent.

Only thing I dont like is the combat... I've died so many times because of misclicks.

Now I just start pressing F1 and F2 rapidly to get both characters attacking, rather than trying to click on a little circle.

There should be a key that attacks nearest.

Otherwise; Music is good, game is tough, quests are great and puzzels are... puzzling sometimes

Yeah, that would help. (The control key just TARGETS the nearest, you still have to click to attack and it DOESN'T work properly for me - I keep running past the enemy and then I die.)

If there was a key that would actually attack the nearest enemy with the currently selected character(s), that would be great.

I don't think clicking the circles does anything besides moving your character. You have to click on the enemy not the circle below it.

How can you "misclick"?

You see an enemy. You press spacebar to pause, you hover your pointer over the enemy, you see his red circle light up, you click. Chosen characters will face him. Press spacebar to unpause. Combat starts.

Or, you see enemy, you press spacebar to pause. You give a potion to your Deathknight, you select the right primary action for your hero, you go grab a coke from your fridge, you click the portrait of your Dk and click his enemy, you then click the portrait of your hero and click the enemy he has to attack, you unpause.

I really don't see how combat or targeting is "difficult", unless you refuse to press pause.

Well... I'll have to give that a try... I still think the auto-kill button would be nice.

And I never use the spacebar... I like to think of it as... real-time.
You'd never pause a real life situation (although thats kind of a stupid analogy, lol )

In my time of Divine Divinity and the short time in Beyond Divinity I have never once used pause for any other reason than I was going afk. I've never used it for combat, if its a necessity for Beyond Divinity due to the updated combat system and the fact that you have 2+ characters to control so-be-it.

Controlling the two characters is simple with the f1/f2 buttons, and to select enemies I do not think I should be required to pause the game just to do that.

Well... I really didnt think about using it while I was playing... but with two characters instead of one sometimes it gets a bit tricky. I'll probably use it until I lose the Deathknight... (hmm... wonder when that happens )

Start practising if you're gonna play BD. It's that big button there at the bottom, ya can't miss it

Or in my case:

You see an enemy. You press spacebar to pause, you hover your pointer over the enemy, you see his red circle light up, you click. Chosen characters will face him. Press spacebar to unpause. Character runs past enemy and just stands there with his back to him. Enemy proceeds to kill character.

Is your character in peace mode? If he is, either switch him to fight mode, or click on an enemy, and simply wait a moment for the main character to stop, pull out his weapon and actually hit an enemy.

The list the topic-starter gave pretty much gives my opinion aswell.

it's exactly those things that doesn't make me go "wow" yet, it's enjoyable but the things mentioned on that list would make the game even more enjoyable

Er, that could explain things I suppose. Can you not attack manually if you're in peace mode? I'll try it when I get home anyway. The only thing is, I have been successfully hitting the enemy occasionally, about 25% of the times I try to attack. I would certainly expect to be able to manually attack when auto-attack is turned off.

I'll try it anyway.

If you are in peace mode and click on a hostile NPC, you should automatically dwaw your weapon and attack. I've never had a problem with targeting, except trying to click on running targets without pausing first.
