Hi.
Shame we can't do polls here. I'm rather disconcerted by the new system in terms of skills. I see the general idea is to make everything pretty generic and give access to every character to everything, and give the opportunity to a caster to cast every magic, even have other types of skills like warrior, scoundrels and such.
The first opus of the game was more a "School of Skills" kind of game, where you had to invest in a school to have a caster good at this school.
I find myself more attracted to the second type of vision. I like the fact that I have a healer, a warrior, and fire mage, and so on.
What is your view on this? Do you like the schools or the "do it all" kind of playstyle?

This is nothing new. It is the same system as first game with some changes ofcourse.
In principle you can choose of being super good in one school of skills and dont use anything else. Or be so called jack of all trades.
There can be space for both in one party, because you are limited to 4 characters. You cant encompass all schools of magic and all skills if you dont have multispec characters.
Anyone can choose what they want.

I would actually like to see the 'schools' of skills renamed, and the skills themselves having a different set of requirements for learning.

Well it seems new in the sense that you can learn all skills, whereas in the first opus you could only learn skills from a school you had points into...

I like the learn-it-all style. It's why I invest in nothing but memory for my main character. That aside, you do require a level in a school in order to learn skills from that tree, but there is a (Glitch? Feature?) where you can equip a piece of equipment with, say, +1 hydrosophist or such, and learn those skills. I don't know if this will stay, but because memory slots are dedicated to the skills, a significant investment is still required, and I feel it is fairly balanced, even as of now. Just my opinion, though.

I do think there should be more of a benefit for investing heavily into certain skills; as of now the slight percentage increase feels too inconsequential per point, even if they may eventually add up to a significant bonus.
However, specialization seems to come from your memory restrictions rather than your point investment. You can learn skills from every school, but unless you have an abundance of memory slots, you're probably only going to be able to focus on one or two of them in your "deck".

Yeah, I don't like it either. It's pretty likely everyone will just end up with raged induced whatever the best skills will be builds, copy cat upon copy cat. Why specialise if you can get all of the best spells of ALL schools, for free. No need to invest in pyro to get Armageddon, just get Armageddon. And Lightning Apocalypse. And Ranged Assassination, and the ultimate Melee Finisher.
Nah, I much prefer the Fire Mage, Ranger or Melee specialist. If you want to be good in something, invest in it. Not like now, where you points matter none.
