ok, so, what's the point of that poor rat ? Any way to cure its affliction other than killing it with magic ?

At risk of simply adding "me too!", er, me too. I attempted various things but all resulted in the rat's unfortunate demise.

There's another rat with apparently the same affliction in the maze, too, over to the far left from where you enter.

Yep, I saw it , and managed to cure it.

You did? May I ask? I didn't actually attempt to help that rat after my experience with Mr Perfidus.

Oh I want to know too! I've just managed to kill the poor sods...

I cured him using restoration magic on him...he's able to lie again, has a short conversation after that. No XP involved though, I was a bit disappointed by that.

yes, the one outside is cursed to always tell the truth, unlike rattus perfidus, who CANNOT tell the truth. So I casted Bless on it

Restoring or blessing the rat which can only speak in sarcastic lines doesn't work. It just dies. Is it a bug or am I using the wrong spell?
