He doesn't currently recognize the situation if your character ends up on the other side first (probably by way of sharing the teleport gloves with another party member, possibly because you've already cleared a path the long way around) during the "teleport me to the grassy rock on the other side" phase, giving the same dialogue as if he'd left the PC stuck on the cliff. This is a minor thing, but he should probably react a bit differently in those circumstances!
