Well, I bought this game when it came out and I finally got around to playing it thanks to some time off work with broken bones.

I can't use the holy sword yet, so is Pedro's Singing Blade the best sword in the game? I must admit the game seemed a whole lot easier once I got that. Does he always have it or did I just get lucky? The frost enchantment is just too good, especially in conjunction with a swirl attack.

I'm currently trying to reconvene the Council of Seven but I cannot find Gemoe. He's supposed to be at the Blue Boar Inn and I know I saw him there before meeting Zandalor but now I can't find him anywhere.

As for Bronthion, I take it you have to kill Josephina before you can get him to join. I'm having terrible trouble with that at the moment. She must have a really high defence because I can hardly ever hit her to freeze her with the sword. I have freeze level 3 but she is immune to that. I have leveled up in the interim so will freeze level 4 get her?

the singing blade is definitly one of the best sword. The stats of it are random so it might be that other swords sometimes are better, like the blade of chaos. However some people do not like the two hand swords, because you can not use a shield anymore.
Josephine IS very hard to kill. Try scorpions, blind her there are many tactics proposed.

josefina cant be frozen not even with lvl 5! Her spirit res is way to high. But if you have frost on the sword...That works like a charm.

Two handed swords seem great to me, I don't seem to take much more of a thrashing without a shield than with one. I did have an exceptional giantsword at one point but I had to sell it because it was too heavy to carry with everything else. Speaking of which, Geoff in Rivertown has some great claymores but he won't sell them. Why?

I guess I'll just have to come back to Josephina when I'm a few levels higher. I can't hit her often enough with the sword to keep her frozen, even with 5 points of sword expertise. I've almost killed her a couple of times but eventually she gets off a blind spell which allows her to cast hellspikes etc and then it's over. Is there any way to negate or prevent a blind spell?

Take a shadow potion or use fade from sight to be invisible until her spell wears off if you can't run away from her.
Kiya

Another thing: If you're NOT blinded = use the warrior swirl attack not ON but NEAR her whilst being invisible.

Save first (in case there is a glitch), then pick up a claymore or other piece of equipment. Geoff should ask you if you are interested in it; say yes and it will come up in the trade window. Also, if you place a container in your inventory, it is not considered stealing to open the container and drag and drop items into it. It is considered stealing when you take things out, however, so make sure you are alone.

How to kill Josephina: Just use warrior special move, it works even if you're blinded(shouldn't be hard to figure out where she is, and you can tell if you're hitting her.)

It's also a good idea to have restoration potions.

I finally managed to beat Josephina, just kept pasting her with the Singing Blade and managed to keep her frozen long enough to do the job. A couple of resoration potions came in useful too. Thank goodness for that, it was becoming irritating. She was tough, no doubt about it, that fellow on the dragon guarding the Dragon Heart gem was a walkover compared to her, I demolished him at the first attempt.

Returning to the two handed/one handed sword debate, I reckon two handed swords are far better. I acquired a Polished Longsword of the Bloodsucker which lists frost (5) amongst its attributes. However, imho, one handed weapons simply don't do enough damage and shields are of limited benefit. I shall be sticking with the Singing Blade.

Does anyone know of any decent merchants? I have gold and equipment out the wazoo but I can neither spend the gold nor sell the equipment. I've exhausted Geoff's stock and that of the Elven merchant (Ganavariel?) and the Dwarf (Grischa?). Any decent shops in Verdistis? So far I have avoided going there because, frankly, it seems a little dull.

You can buy spellbooks and silver charms from corinna in verdistis and kristadilius (sorry for spelling) in the merchant area. Blake also sells spellbooks. Later you can buy gold charms

I used the scorpion suggestion on Josaphine, I droped about 20 of them and climed the ladder. It took only a few seconds for them to kill everything.

The singing blade is good, but I think the Chaos blade (Hidden in boulders) east of Dwarven village is better. Then of course the Holy Sword is the Best.

The nobleman's sword is like gold for killing imps and dragon riders. It freezes, poisons and spritual damages like a charm.

The Blade Of Chaos is a good weapon but it's not suited for every situation, I find Axe's clumsy, you take a good few hits from ranged attacks before you get a strike in.
