On Blood Isle, there's a quest that requires one character to have the Scholar origin tag. You essentially cannot complete the quest without it.

I don't know if there's other examples of locking players out of quests based on their tags, but it would be nice with a lightweight bandaid-mod to "learn" tags from skillbooks.
