Well, I checked out the demo and no wonder they are delaying the game

The controls are wretched first off

Movement is sluggish and unresponsive

And combat

What the heck happened?

You cant even attack. it is almost impossible to target the enemy and keep attacking without somehow accidentally moving your character around in circles. it is like i have to click on a small 1 mm square to make my person attack someone.

Picking up object is awful as well

What happened larian? Please fix these terrible terrible issues before release

... err

Isnt the only thing diffrent between the English/US and other versions is the speech/vocies?...

I dont think they'd change movement, ect. between versions, would they?

(Hope I didnt miss your point entirely...)

Picking up object is awful as well

while pressing Alt, clicking the description of the item (which is big enough) will make your character pick it up as well

well my point is you shouldnt have to rely on the CTRL key heh

try the demo you will see

the hit box is way to small hopefully they will correct this instead of worrying about things like voice acting

I had no such troubles. And barely used alt or ctrl.

Don't go bashing your mouse, one single click is enough to attack an enemy untill its dead.

I stopped playing the demo too! [Got Sacred] But fighting in the demo was awful. Hope they fix it. Targeting was hard and frustrating. If I did land a hit it was like wow how did that happen and can I do it again. [usually not] Though that did't stop me from preordering the game. Hate the thought of returning it for that reason.

Don't forget your chars are still low level and their combat speed is slow, don't expect some diablolike hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack in five seconds.

Ok, I just gave help to another guy about the demo on another thread, so you might want to read my post about it.

http://www.larian.com/ubbthreads/sh...&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

Basically, in targetting you have to click the enemy and not the little red circle under them. And don't forget you can always pause the game with the space key which makes targetting even easier.

greetings all.
i just finished the demo and would have to agree with many of the previous assessments.
combat is not smooth. it's far too easy to have your character run in circles, not fight. and yes, i'm aware of the control you can exhibit by pressing a key...but the point is, you should not have to!
the other irritant about the demo was that it's just too short!! it couldn't have taken but 45 minutes to run through the entire thing! i guess i was remembering fondly the length and scope of the DD demo.
can't wait for the game to be out. this is going to be fun. and i look forward to reading what path(s) you all take.
oh, and i'm terribly pleased to see that some of the forum 'gods and goddesses' have been named in the game. i'm so looking forward to kicking kiya's butt!! ha!!! (hi kiy!)

?

Targeting is very easy (no kidding).
Move your mouse pointer over the desired target. When you see the name of the target appear, you can click. No need for keyboard CTRL or whatever.

Give it a shot, you'll see.

I had all the same problems with trying to attack someone...just couldn't do it!! I thought it'd be like but instead my character just ran around in circles, and this was the English UK demo.

I did try to click on the circle beneath the enemies to attack them but if this isn't what you're supposed to do, then why on earth are those circles THERE!??!

This is a nit-pick but the circles are also slightly askew to the angle of the ground in relation to the character models stances!

circles are there for recognision (dont have a clue how you spell that), i think. green for friends, red for enemies (maybe blue for neutrals). just guessing.
I had more problems with attacking in DD, where the charactars were still 2d. 3D is a lot smoother, or else i just use the ctrl key

DD had some problems with it, you had to click next to items to pick them up etc, but didn't have any of that in BD demo.

HOW-TO-TARGET-VERY-EASILY-IN-ONE-LESSON:

- Press space;
- Move your mouse pointer over the desired target. When you see the name of the target appear, you can click. No need for keyboard CTRL or whatever.
- press space and watch the battle.

If you want to change something during the battle, repeat the above.

but Larian Studios listened to their fans, and the great guys at Digital Jesters allowed them to delay the game to the end of April in order to improve the voices, [color:"#33cc33"]as well as tweak a few other areas of the game. [/color]

so these problems should be remedied by then.....
i had no trouble targeting or opening doors or finding/picking up items

same here, I had no problems with attacking, a LOT less problems with picking up items BUT imho the pathfindig is worse than in it seemed to me that my hero didn't really felt like fighting and just kept walking around
