So I had posted this in the sub, but I feel like I haven't been contributing enough to the actual forums and I'd like to share this here!

Here's a short overview.

'Eternal Reverie' is a narrative-focused experience, with very little combat. What combat there is can even be avoided, if you're clever, actually. The primary focus is on atmosphere and the story being told, so it works pretty differently to how DOS operates.

Just about every item you come across, every set piece, will have some little blurb or lore bit attached to it, being noted from the perspective of the PC. He's mute from the start, so there's a bit of a gap between what you know and what he knows, and the whole point is to kind of figure out the world around you.

I really like passive narratives, and you don't tend to get a lot of context. And some of the details you don't get at all, but are presented in a way that lets you kind of put two and two together. A lot of the puzzles are fairly expository, themselves.

The combat is probably gonna throw a couple people off. But I'm trying to rebalance it for one-on-one encounters, and I wanted to do something a little different. You don't gain levels or XP, but most skills you'd need can be obtained through one-time use scrolls. There's less than ten enemies in the entire mod, and you buy the skills with a VERY limited currency, so if you choose the combat route, you kind of have to assemble a deck of skills you might think would go well together, and it's my intention to scale damage down to the "Critting for 8 is a devastating blow" neighborhood (I actually saw there was a mod that does that for the main game, I plan to check that out!).

I also happen to do a little freelance voicework, and so the plan at this time will be to add fully voiced dialogue. I've linked a couple examples below, some test runs for a couple characters. There's also a couple screenshots, but those are taken from the Reddit thread and I need to get some more taken, which I'll add here.

Lemme know what you guys think. I know the combat is sure to turn a lot of people off--and for good reason, likely. But I'm not even to the point that I have all of it implemented yet, so time will tell if I start to hate the idea, myself.

I like it, quite original, definitely something I'd like to play. The voice acting is very good too, would be great to have it all voice acted. Do keep us updated.

Fixed the images if that's OK.
