So The new Torturer talent will allow you to apply status effects through magic or physical armor.

Does this only apply to dots or will you actually be able to stun/knockdown/freeze people? If so it seems like it could really break the game.

And does the dmg from dots become piercing or will it still do magic/phys dmg to armor.

It does make spells like Bullrush more tempting either way

I would guess, only status effects like poisoning/burning/bleeding, perhaps soft CC like chill or warm, hopefully not hard CC, otherwise it would be a must have talent and would render armor system quite pointless.

Though this would as mean, that earth and fire get a nice damage boost, while water and air stay left behind.

It would also positively affect Necromancy and Scoundrel - Mosquito Swarm and Sawtooth Blade, namely.

Furthermore, I doubt that the damage would become piercing. Still, given that the Poisoned and Burning damage statuses lower resistances to their corresponding elements, this is still good for mages.

... Well, mages of those two types, anyway.

If it does apply soft cc such as chilling/shocked/blinded it would be a nice boost for aero/hyrdo.That one AP reduction from shock has saved my ass multiple times.

But yea if it only applies to dmg such as burning, posion and bleeding it only really helps geo/pyro, some certain bleeding spells, and honestly would make for another meh talent.

Hopefully it works with the likes of bleed fire and infect.

Though even it would 'only' apply DoT and soft CC it probably would still be a kind of a new 'must have'.

From an Fextralife interview with a Larian dev:

"We’re also looking into community concerns about power of mages (see below), late-game scaling issues of summoners and tweaking some individual skills and talents to make them more viable. E.g. Torturer talent now allows to set DoT statuses through Armour."

Finally someone with critical questions, though stuff like the ridiculous scaling was not addressed in this interview it seems. (The picture with Crippling blow dealing over 2k damage kind of says it all.)

Actually, ridiculous scaling was mentioned to be scaled back - at least somewhat.

On the balancing side we’re squishing hp, armour and damage numbers to make rare equipment stay appealing for a longer time and smooth out some bumps in the progression.
