I just read some stuff about this novel, and I too would like to have it.
I live in Belgium (where the game was made ! ) and bought my copy in GameMania, a store which every Belgian knows. How come I didn't get a novel with it ?

In America (I believe) the game is shipped with the Novel. However you can order the novel for a very minor fee.

The UK version is the version with the novella. Americans can also get the novella, but not all the time.

I don't think that the Belgian publishers thought it would be worth it to translate to dutch, seeing as Belgium (and Holland) is a small part of the gaming market. And you can't really sell an English novella in Belgium, because not everyone speaks English!

In short, the publishers didn't think the novella's were worth the effort.

I got the novel with the game in Ireland, so I assume it's also in the UK release as I'm sure they're exactly the same.

So I wonder then why (if you're getting an English version of the game) there isn't a novella with all copies? It also has a picture and mentions the novella on the front of the box. It's not just something that is in it or not, it should say on the box if it's there.

It does say on the boxes whether it's there or not.

In the US, Best Buy has an exclusive deal with Hip Games to ship the packs with the novella, altho I understand that people who ordered direct from Digital Jesters also got the novel. Other retailers like EB (where I got mine) offer the Divine Divinity CDs in the box with the BD game and manual. I want the novel, but I didn't want to wait for the game (BB is notoriously slow getting things in stock, and as of last Thursday they said there was a 5-7 day wait), so I bought at EB and ordered the fan pack from DJ. I hope they mail it out soon.

The fan kit is the answer and then you get it signed by me and everything... in genuine English pen... with words...sometimes up to 5 or MORE depending on how much my wrist hurt at the time!

You can buy the game through Digital Jesters, even the version WITH Novel or the Fan Pack.

However, they only accept credit cards ...

I already bought the game, I'm not going to buy it again just for a novel.
Still thinking that Larian is in fact from Belgium, and that we Belgians don't get this novel, this is a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG mistake. How do they even DARE do this !!! UNBELIEVABLE !!!

Larian just went a step back there !

Besides, Belgians are not like (only as an example) Germans, who HATE talking English and usually don't even want to talk it even when they can !

Almost all Belgians speak English ...

This is a disgrace !!!

The fanpack is just the novel and a CD of music by Kirill, it doesn't include the game. I think Larian is selling it on this site and also on the the Digital Jesters site.

That decision isn't up to the developers. It's the publisher who has the final word in stuff like that.

Euhm LoL !
I wasn't nagging at all. If you would have read my post DECENTLY, you would have made up that I didn't know of any fanpack yet, something which Viper made clear with saying :

One of the posts (there were others too, tx Yannos) in this thread which made me understand something I didn't know yet (and thus was a reply making sense, unlike yours !). And I have been on this forum longer then you have ... I don't nag about such things, it is DEAD-NORMAL for us Belgians to want these things too (and first), seeing the DEVELOPER is BELGIAN, the game is BELGIAN, and so on ...
Not that others shouldn't get this novel, but we could've come first or they could've at least made some better info aournd this for us ...

Seeing as the game manual states the following EXACTLY :
Quote

On a final note, I just became a proud father, and if you're one of the ones lucky enough to get Rhianna's "Child of the Chaos" story included with [bold]your box[/bold], I want to point out that the cover picture, that's my 2 months old baby. It's to her and her mother that I dedicate my portion of this game.

I expected to have received it with the game !
It's dead normal, just look at some games in America, like for example Motor City Online, I had to import it etc to be able to play it, it wasn't even supported here in Europe, but still I got it working and I didn't mind. If I then would have nagged about it it would have been silly. Not in this case though !

Seeing as this is made in Belgium, I think WE should have gotten this first and not other countries, sounds super normal to me ! Far from nagging !

And the game is still great ! With or without this novel ... so nagging is FAR from it ...

Divine Divinity and Beyond still own !

PS.:

Blackjack.
It does say on the boxes whether it's there or not.

Euhm, that's all very well, but the box I have does NOT mention the novel is NOT included (so what you say is not exactly correct).
And second of all, since noone lets you know there is even a box WITH this novel available until I read the manual of the Beyond version which I have now, it is a little late no ... and it's not that I didn't have a look at the site OR the forum before I buyed it ...

This is not to nag, again !

Just called Game Mania by the way, the biggest game store in Belgium, with stores all over.
And the person working there went to look in his computer and found nothing of this GAME + fanpack ..., he DID have however a version of Divine Divinity + Beyond ... but that is not it.
Seeing that this person (the main store owner) didn't know himself about this novel being with it ... says enough. Not enough info for us Belgians ...

Anyway, as someone here in this forum said you can order it for a small fee on the website I'll just go look for it there, still a little dissapointed after reading the part concerning the novel in the manual :S

It is probably because it is not a UK version but a BENELUX version (WHERE'S THE LOGIC PEOPLE, THIS GAME IS MADE IN BELGIUM !), however, the game and manual are in English ... so it is identical to the UK version in that aspect (AGAIN , THE LOGIC ...)

This is totally weird dudes ...

I live in Belgium as well (not that far from where you live even ) and I too am saddened by the fact that the country where the game was created is discriminated in a small way. However this just isn't Larians fault. So i'm afraid you either have to live with it or order it online someday.

Just a little point; The GAME was made in Belgium but the NOVELLA was not. It is a seperate novella based upon the Child of the Chaos, set in the world. The book was packaged and sold with UK versions purely because it was written here. So basically your argument validates my responce;

"Seeing as this is made in United Kingdom, I think WE should have gotten this first".

Secondly: Please be careful your posts don't go 'too far'. There's patriotism and then there is down right disrespect for the consumers from other countries.

Thanks.
