We've just released patch V1.41 for the English version of Beyond Divinity which fixes a couple of issues with the game. If you installed patch V1.4, then we recommend strongly that you download and install this patch as patch V1.4 could potentially cause problems with your items & inventories.

For more information or to download the patch, follow this link.

Hi there,

I tried this hotfixed patch on my problems with some bf1 quests but the 1.41 actually made these problems worse! The 1.4 somehow wasn't able to resolve solutions like, in my case, The Healing Rope mission and The Mad Merchant mission. But after installing this hotfix these quests all have an $ERROR in them.... And I mean $ERROR in conversations and $ERROR in the logbook. Will I have to restart the game again? I hope not...this was already my third try (in 2 days, and that's a lot for me(a lot of tries I mean, not days)).

Problems with this patch!

So far, after installing 1.41 I have nothing but issues.
My teleport pyramids are gone from inventory.
I zoomed to the battlefields, and now I can't leave. When I try I just get sent right back to the same battlefield. I'm pretty well hosed here.

Here's something: After installing the v1.41 patch, double clicking on the skeleton summoning doll crashes my game to desktop.

I have thge same exact problems. I can enter battlefields in act4, but cannot leave them, my pyramids are gone too, this is the case on new and old save games. Guess I will wait for next patch to be able to play the game the way I want (i.e. utilizing battlefields).

The reason there are so many problems is because you're all installing and running old saves.
If you want things to fix right you're going to have to
accept the fact that you need to start over again.
I started fresh and have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS
other than my gripes about weightless shoes
and the non-scaling weight of arrows,
but everything else has been flawless for me.

Cross-quoting me now?
Sorry, but it's true. Accept it people. If you don't believe it, play Fallout out of the box, then patch it

I very much doubt I am going to start all over again in Act 4. I'm sorry, but Act 4 is the end of the game and I am 5minutes off completing it. I'd rather throw the game out than go through that frustration and have the same bug occur again during the same act later. If multiple people are having it, that deems it a bug and it must be addressed or it will keep happening. Starting over only hides the problem, to save face.

Note: The patch clearly states "This patch will not affect your save games". Really? It seems it is in some way or another.

I for one do not wish to keep playing my game in fear of another bug happening that totally stops my progress. This is starting to remind me of Temple of Elemental Evil... bug city all over again. I like Beyond Divinity, I have fun playing it, but you can't expect people to start over anytime a bug appears. In a game which costs full price over here, there shouldn't be so many game-stopping bugs in the first place. We don't pay to reinstall, restart and generally be frustrated anytime something goes wrong.

I believe you, but it's unfortunate. Just because this happened in Fallout doesn't make it right for BD.

I believe that Larian tried to make the patches compatible with old saves, but I also believe they failed.

Bottom line: My game is broken, I'm not starting over. Lesson learned, money wasted. Well at least wasted for now. Maybe in a few more patches things will be working again and I'll find the patience to start a new game.

i just arrived in the imp village, attempted to go to the battlefields, and was wisked off on a crystal shard crusade by the nasty necromancer. after completing that, i arrived back in the imp village, and then immediately went to battlefields for some hack & slay. i have yet to locate the teleporter pyramids, let alone complete any imp quests.

is now a safe time to install the new 1.41 patch, and not break the game / lose the teleporter pyramids or suffer any other annoyances the others have been with this particular patch?

it occurs to me that the problem with being unable to leave the battlefields might have something to do with the fact that perhaps people have used the act 1 battlefield keys to access the battlefields map as i did. meanwhile, if the patch has corrected this then you should only be able to access the battlefields if you find the keys for them in act 2. i have found 1 in the cell where i rescued the imps, for level 3 battlefields, act 2, which i clicked on and it appears to have activated them legitimately. and of course God did whisper in my ear, knowing the frustration i'd experience, and told me to save a copy of the game right at the beginning of act 2, as well as the end of act 1. so, if worse comes to worse, i should be able to install the patch and begin from act 2 beginning with no problem, right? (hopefully.)

also, are people dropping a teleporter at the battlefields rather than using the skill tree option? seems like a silly thing to do to me. i'd rather use my teleporter stone for something else and save the trip to the battlefields for the keys. they were designed to fit the locks afterall, and backdoors such as teleporters do have ways of being shut.

please tell me i'm not going to experience the summoning doll problem that crashes the game. i'd really hate that. hehe

awe come on, you're taking away the warm fuzzy feeling i had when i collected the melons... i thought they were something special to trigger an easter egg later on...

To answer your first part: I'm on Act 4 and do not pick the keys up when I find them. I click them on the floor (which activates BF) and then walk away. There is no need to pick them up and carry them with you. I know for a fact that I have not clicked on an earlier act key for that reason and the fact that I just activated the Battle field 5 key in Act 4 shortly before I first encountered the bug. I used the key and was using the battlefields in said act fine (warping to and from with the skill tree option) without a problem before I installed patch 1.40. I warped to the Battlefield as per usual and when I clicked the leave skill tree option, I just respawned in Battlefield on the spawn spot. Patch 1.41 did not correct the problem.

And your other bit: No I do not drop a teleporter stone at battlefields, purely because I have no stones after a bug in Act 3 took them.

It's a very strange bug to say the least and i've been trying now for 4 days to find a solution.

I've noticed also when I try and exit battlefields, the loading bar appears for around 2 seconds (no way near long enough to load the Act 4 map) and then disappears before I respawn in Battlefields.

Indeed. Except i'm by no means an expert with computers, i'm more practical.

I just want to try and find a solution to this bug without starting over, purely so I can post it if others get stuck later. It's all very confusing because it's like the game just doesn't want to load the act you were on.

I know it's a save compatability problem (patching and not restarting the game), i'm just curious as to what caused it.

Don't know if anyone else is having this happen but since installing the 1.41 patch last night my heros don't seem to be taking any damage.
I went into Citadel Lvl 7 after installing patch and was able to fight all the gargoyles and elemental without taking any damage at all.
This was strange because before the patch the two gargoyles on level 3 beat the fool out of me.
Also still have strings showing up in my conversation logs and now after patch 1.41 have $ERROR$ strings all over my quest log.
Hope we can resolve all this without making folks start games over. If starting over is required we should get a rebate on cost of game related to time spent playing and having to start over. Sorry, but I am really disappointed in this game after loving Divine Divinity, which kept me up several nights playing.

This guy is absolutely insane. He picks up on the 1 person who claims he's not having any problems since starting over and posts it in 15 threads. Believe me, this guy is hardly spewing a light at the end of the tunnel. Larian's responses that the bugs are being worked on however is the light that you are looking for. Not saying it will be in the next patch...maybe not even the one after that, but they will come through eventually.
